It's too bad the whole Virgin Tour show was never released. "Angel", "Borderline" and "Burning Up" were on the set list, yet weren't included on any released format.

However, clips from Dallas of all three of these songs have leaked onto the Internet.

You lucky devil you!! biggrin I came to concert-going a bit late as I always assumed it was too expensive for me...then I realised it wasn't! D'oh!! First ever Madonna show (and first ever concert) was Confessions Tour at Wembley. I was on such a high, but the week afterwards I was on a proper come down and almost forked out a stupid amount of money for a front row ticket the following week.

Saw her twice on the S&S Tour, the first one I took my little sis to her first Madonna show, and it was brill. Then the O2 last summer was possibly best concert I've been to! We had great seats, and sat with some real hardcore fans that totally made the night, plus M was on outrageous form that night!

Best of all though was the Radio 1 Big Weekend bash she played which was in Maidstone, Kent...which is literally 6 miles down the road from my house!!! biggrin I was on cloud nine when I heard she was coming to play Mote Park, a place I use to play football in as a kid...I didn't believe she was coming until I saw it in the press! Still seems unreal now, Madonna coming to my little home town. Manage to squeeze myself 4 people from the front for that one!! Ah, great memories!!!

Madonna always tried to change up "Like A Virgin". She used "Billie Jean" as the bridge on the Virgin Tour.

if i remember correctly vma's 2003 sampled the billie jean beat for like a virgin. i remember getting excited thinking MJ was opening the show

Gosh Im so jealous of anyone that went to BA!
GS is my fave too but to see BA was to see history in the making!!!
It will never be the same ... as seeing her in the 80s or early 90s, no matter what lol that said i've been VERY lucky to have been to:

Drowned World (3 Shows)
Reinvention (3)
Coachella
Confessions (3)
S&S (2)

As much as S&S was so disappointing live, I am enjoying the mix of the sound/songs on the mastered cd/dvd a lot more than live. She sho fucked over us So Cal fans by playing in SD AND LA in fuckin shit stadiums. Hoping the next tour redeems my excitement about her shows.
I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

hmmm Let's see what I can remember....

It was sooo long ago,so my memories might be a little fuzzy, lol.

The show was on Saturday May 19,1990."Vogue" was the Number One song in America and had been for several weeks.Madonna soldout three nights at this venue (Oakland Coliseum) and the show that I attended was the second night.

The tickets were around $35.Unfortunately,we had lousy seats. It's a good thing that a friend brought some binoculars.

Very good show! She opened with "Express Yourself" and it was thrilling.I'm sure you've seen this show on video so you know the setlist.I thought it was cool the way she added a few rare songs like "Where's The Party".The 'Dick Tracy' medley was alot of fun! Interestingly, the 'I'm Breathless' album was released on the Tuesday after this show.I remember rushing to the record store to get it.After having seen the concert a few days earlier,I was still on a 'Madonna high' (lol) and I couldn't wait to buy the new album.

Awesome tour!! Given its importance,I'm surprised that this show hasn't been released on DVD yet.

just a head stand on a plat form (ha! 'just) when she first said 'strike a pose' for the opening song Vogue - was funny as hell in Vegas when she only held it for like 0.5 seconds then had to fall out of it. all the other shows and the DVD i saw, tho, it's dope.

I finally watched the Sticky and Sweet DVD this past weekend lol

A few observations....

***I think the latin-themed "gyspy segment" is interesting, but it just went on a little too long. That part dragged on and on,and during this particular show, she performs an additional song ("Don't Cry For Me Argentina"),which made it even longer.I got bored mid-way through. The costumes, dancing and musicianship is great.Maybe she should have shortened it a little."Spanish Lesson" could have been eliminated.

***This tour confirms something that I suspected a long time ago."Like A Prayer" never really sounds good live.I feel the same way about Prince's "When Doves Cry".Certain songs don't translate very well to a live setting. The studio versions are magical and there's no way to recreate that same magic onstage. So,not surprisingly, the S&S version of "Like A Prayer" falls flat, just like the versions heard on previous tours.

***Two performances that I wasn't crazy about when I saw the concert ("Human Nature" and "Borderline"),I love it on the DVD.

***The biggest disappointment? "Ray Of Light".This is one song that shouldn't have made it onto the setlist. She performed it on three of the last four tours and I think it's time to give it a break.Plus, the S&S version sounds too much like the Confessions Tour version.

***The highlights? "Into The Groove","Miles Away","Hearbeat" and "Devil Wouldn't Recognize You",a song that I liked even more after seeing it on this tour.

The DVD is really exciting. The CD could have been better, though. It leaves off some amazing songs.I like the bonus footage on the DVD.It's always alot of fun seeing what goes on backstage on a Madonna tour.

It was an incredible concert. It was also an amazing era....a thrilling time to be a Madonna fan.She was EVERYWHERE.On the radio, all over MTV,on magazines,in movie theatres that summer ('Dick Tracy'),on tour,it was crazy.
