Your talking 'bout Carl Carlton & Leon.. They were label mates @ 20th Century Records. Leon wrote some of the songs on Carlton's eponymous album from '81, including "This Feeling's Rated X-Tra" which was first done by Leon on his "Come And Get Yourself Some" album '75.
..as far as I know "The Wailer, Johnnie Taylor" was the first to record "Your Love Is Rated X". [Edited 4/20/10 15:26pm]

..as for as I know "The Wailer, Johnnie Taylor" was the first to record "Your Love Is Rated X". Right. Leon Haywood composed a "This Feeling Is Rated X-Tra", which is an entirely different song altogether, though the titles are similar.
