“Well, over the years me, Dave Hollister and Chauncey had all stayed in contact with each other. And so, a couple of years ago, we decided to try and put the whole BLACKstreet thing back together”, relates Teddy: “But then, with Mark and Eric (who both joined BLACKstreet in 1996 and left in 2009) being boyfriends, they basically started siding together saying they didn’t want Dave Hollister back in the group. Mainly because, if he came back in, that would have made Eric very insignificant!

Whats really funny about this statement is that Teddy knew to get co-ownership of BLACKstreet with Chauncey, a dude who can't sing all that great to begin with, instead of co-ownership with the lead voice(s). Teddy learned his lesson form the experience with Guy and watching other groups come to an end when the lead singers get all the glory and naturally meant to pursue solo careers. As far as BLACKstreet Chauncey is and only has been a better vocalist that Teddy. All the other former members are better vocalists than him. Well excpet maybe Levi. He's not that great either, although "Joy" is one of my favorite songs by BLACKstreet.

This article is either fake or greatly exaggerated. Teddy filed for bankruptcy several years ago, so he's not in any position to talk about broke folks. I'm also not too sure that he knowingly had a gay couple in the group. The typical Black American male wouldn't tolerate that, especially during the 90s.

If Eric and Mark really did hate on Dave Hollister, then they deserve to get called out. What you do comes back to you. Dave is the only one that had a successful solo album, so they're probably just jealous of him. It looks like Teddy needs to hook up with Chauncey, Dave, and Levi and call it a day. I don't understand why Levi's weight is an issue, because Dave isn't exactly skinny himself. That's another reason why I don't think this article is real.

Once again, it behooves me how so many clear folks think that they're experts on all things Black. Yes, I'm referring to you Mong, the ignorant fool that started this thread.

Guy was before my time, so I can't comment on them, but I do remember Blackstreet. This group was popular, but they weren't mainstream pop artists. I hate it when the mainstream media writes reports about these kind of artists, because they usually aren't accurate. I've seen what the British media has done to Black celebs like Craig David, so I don't trust what they have to say about African-American celebs.
Hopefully, Teddy and the other group members will talk to Sister 2 Sister because that magazine is one of the few that actually gets the story right. I've heard that many black celebs prefer to be interviewed by Jamie because she's an honest reporter.

You're not suggesting they misquoted him THAT MUCH! If they did, they would be sued! It sounds not only like a respectable magazine/site, but if they made up quotes LIKE THAT, they would be sued not by the bandmates but by Teddy. Are you saying he is lying or exaggerating? That is possible.

Which in turn begs the question, what happened as regards the three former members who are now - according to Teddy - allegedly passing themselves off illegally as BLACKstreet? “Well, over the years me, Dave Hollister and Chauncey had all stayed in contact with each other. And so, a couple of years ago, we decided to try and put the whole BLACKstreet thing back together”, relates Teddy: “But then, with Mark and Eric (who both joined BLACKstreet in 1996 and left in 2009) being boyfriends, they basically started siding together saying they didn’t want Dave Hollister back in the group. Mainly because, if he came back in, that would have made Eric very insignificant! So that was how the problem started with THEM. Then in the case of Levi (a member from 1992 to 1995), though we also tried having him back in the group, the problem there was that Levi is fat and he kept taking his shirt off in concert! Which wasn’t very cute, and wasn’t very sexy! So, the last time he showed his fat stomach onstage, we fired him!”

http://www.bluesandsoul.c..._no_doubt/

Teddy also outed Mark & Eric. Unbelievable! disbelief Does this mean that Teddy broke "The Oath" and lived to tell about it?!?

Seriously, that line has got me dying laughing. I need to know if this article is true or not. How can we find out? If Teddy Riley really said these things he is so cold and bitter. What happened to him?

Oh Please. The media lies/exaggerates all the time. When it comes to people of color, this type of irresponsible reporting is the norm.

It's no secret that Teddy went bankrupt. The mainstream media didn't pay attention, but the African-American media reported it. This is why I highly doubt that Teddy's talking ish about broke folks.

I guess you don't know who Dave Hollister is, but he had 2 solo albums. He had a young, black audience. If his former group members are hating on him, I don't blame Teddy for trashing them because jealousy is not a good look. Plus, Dave isn't a skinny man. That's why I doubt that the group members would give Levi a hard time about his weight. This report is BS.

The media is bullshit, but to suggest they would put huge lengthy direct quotes and attribute them to a major media personality is pretty wild. Also, read the tone of the article. it doesn't look like they were even looking for those kind of details. They weren't digging for dirt on the sexuality of those guys (or any illness). I'm not from the UK and even I've heard of Blues and Soul. It hardly looks like Radaronline or HipHopRetards or whatever. I could be wrong, but I doubt it. You're thinking too much of those shitty sources and others, not a magazine that is more interested in music then gossip. But if he offers those kinds of points of view up, they certainly won't ignore them.

Those are direct quotes. They are not saying he suggested something nor does it sound like they tricked him. I think you're maybe a little to into Teddy, Dave and everyone....I hate to shatter your illusions, but some people are just filled with bitterness!

At least Guy had 2 albums worth buying (Guy, The Future) VS. Blackstreet with only 1 album worth buying (Blackstreet).

And if we're talking about tempo, Guy wins because most of their greatest hits are uptempo, which is the average speed of the vintage New Jack Swing sound. The greatest hits of Blackstreet is only a step or two faster than the Dr. Dre-inspired downtempo of 95 BPM.

I've only heard of 2 of Dave's albums. Where did the other 4 come from? That's even more proof that some of the other group members are acting out because of jealousy. What a shame. Because of this info, I still don't believe the article is accurate.

I much prefer Guy, but I'd say Blackstreet's 2nd album, Another Level, is worth buying.

And SoulAlive, I can't believe you don't like "Before I Let You Go" or "Don't Leave Me." eek
