who did Matthew Knowles beat on?
just because he keep one daughter in the basement doesn't make him gangsta... Rick James and James Brown were beating on wenches so they should be on this list before Matthew Knowles. In fact they went to jail! I don't believe Ike went to jail, and Joe hasn't either.

No, Ike only went to jail for drug issues. And Joe doesn't have a criminal record. Neither does Mathew. Mathew only cheated on his wife. That don't make him a "gangster". Ike was someone who was tormented by his childhood ordeals (much like James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Rick James, David Ruffin, etc.) as was Joe in a sense.
I would say record execs like Berry, Clive and 'em were more the gangsters than Mathew, Ike and Joe ever was. Plus Joe's just plain nuts.

Barry Gordy has gone beyond being a ganster; look closer you'll see he has horns coming out of his head.

I'm gonna throw Don King into the mix. Not only does he have the nerve to go out of the house with that hairstyle, he also ripped off Mike Tyson and once killed someone who owed him $600 dollars! Now that's gangsta!!

Out of those three, I say Matthew Knowles is THE biggest cut-throat music business man in that bunch. Not to mention that he is a rogue Freemason like his son-in-law Jay-Z. Without Matthew, the world would've never known anything about his little princess (Beyonce) today.

Clive Davis is a gangster for all of the wrong reasons. The first time Kelly Clarkson OR Alicia Keys decided to rebel against the system, Clive threaten to NOT promote their albums. Sadly, neither one of these women would ever provoke this man ever again!

Not to mention that Clive's weapon of choice against The Funk was Whitney. And lets not forget about that time where Clive almost ruined the r&b/soul career of Phyllis Hyman by trying to make her adult contemporary pop.
