Johnny Gill "The floor"

Abit long (like "rub you the right way" was aswell), but I love the momentum this cut always had. Johnny sounds great on it, and just thinking how refreshing this is sounding now. Jam and Lewis doin' their newjack thing on this one.

Johnny Gill will go down in history for three things:

1) The "Odd Man Out" edition to New Addition

2) Biting Lutha

3) Fingersnaps

oh wait, and one more:

4) Being Eddie Murphy's lover.

That tis all...

Disagree with the first 3. I don't have enough knowledge
or care enough to know about 4.

this song was very weak..lol. i cant beleive i used to like it a lot. the best part of the song is stokley from mint condition doing the background vocal adlibs on the 2nd verse.

the album was a huge let down actually from his previous masterpiece in 1990. it was near garbage.

i liked "i got you" though....

I loved the whole Provocative album. I think the problem with the project was the single choices. "I Got You" should have NEVER been the 2nd single.

I agree. That was probably one of the album's weakest songs.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this track. I remember dancing to this in my bedroom with headphones and sliding around on the area rug, almost falling. Ahhh the summer of 93.

I'm going to bring this track back into my "party mix"

I've always felt that Johnny Gill is an extremely talented singer. I loved "The Floor" as well as "Fairweather Friend" too. I still don't get how people keep falsely accusing him of being Eddie's "lover" rolleyes It's silly how people get all caught up in rumors. I hope Johnny continues to put out albums as he can still sing as strong as he did 20 years ago. And you can't say that much for a lot of singers who came out during that era.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Love this song. It should have charted better on the r&b charts. I think it was a top 20 hit.
