Graycap23 said: George Benson - This masquarade - 1982 It looks like this is not an album title by George Benson, but rather a single from 1976. The albums from him from around '82 are: The Best (1981) Pacific Fire (1983) In Your Eyes (1983) Is it one of those? George Michael - Careless Whisper - 1984 This is a single on Wham's Make It Big album. George Michael's 80s album is called Faith from 1987. Should I count that? Jill Jones - Mii Bocca- 1987 This is a single from her self-titled album. I'm assuming I can count that? Steve Arrington I can't find a self-titled album for him. The other album of his I see is called Steve Arrington's Hall of Fame. Is that the one? I've also deleted a few that are either from the 70s and 90s. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! I couldnt come up with a songs list.
There were so many fantastic singles in the 80's. Besides the usual suspects, It was a golden era of one hit wonders. I was going to have rack my brains to come up with any kind of thoughtful list from me. It was such a mash up of genres; from the beginnings of rap and hip hop, tried and true stadium rock, soul, funk, new wave, the earliest known techno, electro, dance, pop, bubblegum, country, adult contemporary, pop ballads, and many times all on the same radio station. You could turn on the radio in any major city and hear Kenny Rogers, Gary Newman, Devo, Neil Diamond, Fleetwood Mac, and Barbara Streisand, all in the same hour block of music on the same station.lol Young revolutionary artists came of age in the 80's, U2, Prince, Springsteen, Madonna, Depeche Mode. I think if you were a kid in the 80's you may naturally have a more diverse love of music because musical diversity was all around you. It was fed to you. Radio is so tightly formatted and segregated nowadays, I need to have all my presets in my car radio loaded and ready, and switch back and forth to be able to get my full daily nutritional musical requirements that I've grown accustomed to. I dont know how kids can handle so much of the same on most radio now. I find it torturous. Thank god for listener supported college radio like LA's KCRW and its "Morning Becomes Eclectic" otherwise i would be a goner. [Edited 5/17/10 0:06am] | |
