Would you say Tina Turner is a great singer?

Or is she more of an entertainer?

Gritty, soulful, Southern-fueled church growls... yeah I love me some Tina.

Whatever it is she does, she does it right! I love her voice...and I would say that she's an entertainer AS WELL.

Hmmm I like Tina, though I'm not a huge fan, but her vocal range does seem rather limited. But she's kick ass in concert.

She's both.

Many are familiar with the Ike & Tina or the 80s era comeback Tina.
She pretty much has been giving you variations on those sides through the years.
However, as a singer, when placed in a different setting, she still comes through because she's a PRO.

This is evidenced by her restrained yet sizzling take on Joni Mitchell's...

I think she's a better entertainer than vocalist - like most pop stars.

Yeah, she is definitely a great singer. My problem is that her actual songs (I only know the post-1984 ones) are not strong enough...

Her 1960-1975 stuff is the best. The Private Dancer era was her finest moment as a solo artist.

Tina is THE queen of Rock & Roll. I think she is a great singer AND entertainer.

Why do you think Beyonce beat-bites the hell out of THIS woman?!?

Indeed. I first thought/realized this when I heard "Work It Out".

A great singer, no! A stylist, perhaps. Entertainer, well if you like shimmy-shaking and wig hair tossing yes.
She isn't very versatile as a singer - not much range and she growls a lot.
I can be effective at times, but tone and finesse, nawh.

I say that she is both. In her early days, she was one heck of a singer. She wwas raw. Vocals that were out of this world. Over the years, she became more of an entertainer, which is really good. Hands down the Queen of Rock and Roll.
