I think there are more than enough orgers that are convince that there will NEVER be another Michael Jackson. And putting "Beyonce" & "Michael" in the same sentence is a waste argument.

Madonna is in the USA's R&R Hall Of Fame and will more likely be in the one for the UK at some point. Her resume as a dance-pop icon is on an international level. The length of Madonna's career as an entertainer is within 3 decades running.

But can Beyonce get to that level at some point? OR does the Material Girl have Young B defeated from the jump?!?

You guys are some Big time Haters Madonna overated was a teenager during her years as a Big time artist in the 80's and can compare both has madonna ever hit a note?? Bunch of stage gimmicks Beyonce hands down

If you'd like a further breakdown, here are my 2 cents!

Madonna:

quality of music: A (It would have been an A+ if not for her recent material.)
singing vocals: A- (I love her voice. Again, it would have been higher if not for her recent material.)
dancing routines: A (She has some real classics.)
music videos: A+ (One of the best ever.)
film/theater acting skills: D (She's fun to watch, but her acting "skills" are pretty bad.)
racial/cultural diversity of fan base: I'm not sure what this is about, but she does have a diverse fanbase.

Beyonce:

quality of music: F (Musical napalm, and the lyrics are usually just as bad, if not worse.)
singing vocals: F (Her melodramatic vocal acrobatics annoy the heck out of me.)
dancing routines: N/A (I don't really pay attention to them, so it's not fair to grade her here.)
music videos: F (Her personality is super-duper annoying, and it carries over into her videos.)
film/theater acting skills: N/A (I refuse to watch a movie that features her.)
racial/cultural diversity of fan base: I have no clue.

singing vocals : C+. She's never had an awful voice, but not great either.
dancing routines: A-. Not the best dancer, but awesome routines.
music videos: A+. Enough said there.
film/theater acting skills: D+. To be fair, she did great in "Evita"
racial/cultural diversity of fan base: B-. My reason for this grade is that, while she is internationally famous, her core fanbase that's truly into her music isn't very diverse. Mainly, it consists of women, gays, a few straight men, and clubbers.


Beyonce:

quality of music: B-. She has really good songs, believe it or not.
singing vocals: A-. Beyonce is a very good singer, in my opinion.
dancing routines: C+. Good dancer, but apart from "Single Ladies", not alot of her routines are memorable.
music videos: B-. Videos overall are ok, if a bit bland.
film/theater acting skills: C-. Not amazing, but better than Madonna.
racial/cultural diversity of fan base: C-. Not a major diversity.

Conclusion: Madonna's a force to be reckoned with, but Beyonce does have a chance.Like her or not, Beyonce has her own successful legacy. Don't know if it'll ever reach Madonna's, but you never know...

No, because Beyoncé just haven't had as interesting visual / thematic ideas.

I don't think Beyonce or any other entertainer is ever going to be able to capture the public imagination the way Madonna did. Madonna was totally inescapable when I was growing up, you couldn't NOT hear that music. I've never bought a Madonna record but I could probably sing 5 or 6 her songs, at least the first verse and chorus, just cuz I had to hear them so much.

That's not true of anybody these days. There's no opportunity to grab the whole country by the horns the way it was possible in the 80s and before.

Same reason there will never be another Beatles, Stones, Elvis... the kind of artists that totally define their times. They no longer exist. Thanks a lot, internet.

singing vocals Not Relevant IMO. Of course Beyonce has a better voice, but Madonna knows how to make her more limited range work for her.
dancing routines Madonna. Not because she's a better dancer, but because her performances and sets are more like visual art, not just dancing.
music videos Madonna. Way more iteresting.
film/theater acting skills. Madonna. Only because in her first two movies, which are my favorites of hers, are more believeable than any of Beyonces. Why? Because Madonna was basically playing herself, but it worked.
racial/cultural diversity of fan base I have no clue.
