the song sounds like a typical Eastern-Bloc Eurovision entry... lol

falloff That's so funny because that's exactly what I think about several of her songs, especially Bad Romance!! The chorus really could just be from any Eastern European Song Contest entry! I thought I was the only one lol

I like the record though it's not the best song on the album but catchy. I think people take gaga too serious to be honest.

weird video. very weird. made no fucking sense. Which is odd, coming off a masterpiece like Bad Romance.

i still liked it though. sooo funny and strange. Could have done without Beyonce though. i think she totally held the video down.

Well as it was pointed out earlier in this thread when you burst upon the scene and get billed for all the wild antics and stuff it will wear thin after awhile, So it will be interesting to see what is tried next album, "shock value" though its not really shock at this point, especially in this day and age, is cool for a moment but anyone can "shock" you. I mean scary to say i felt Beyonce was more what i wanted to see in this video, some of the gaga stuff from the jail to the caution tape to the kissing i saw that in a Paulina Rubio video in 2000 and again in 2002, so im still curious where gaga will take this next time around.

So far, none of her videos are better than Paparazzi.

1. Paparazzi

2. Bad Romance

3. Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)

Beyonce just doesnt do it for me in the video. She doesnt need to start trying to be "different". She needs to stick to what she knows, which is playing it safe.

I love this forum. One minute Beyonce is "so boring omg BeYAWNce", then when she changes it up "omg go back to boring plz".

Anyone who takes this seriously is a moron. Be glad there's still some artists out there putting in as much effort as Gaga did for this (over 3 months of creating!)

I don´t take this seriously, but I just don´t like the way "fun" is done nowadays. You watch all he idiotic programs types of "jake-ass" and others and you think like is this the only way "fun" is done nowadays. I am a teacher and once I let 14 year old kids watch movie according to their taste and it was the most disgusting things you´d wanna watch. And i felt that the sicker something is, the funnier it´s supposed to be and I hate to sound like a "moralist".
Personally, I don´t see any effort in this. It´s just a Madonna copy and I personally don´t see that much of effort when the result you get is "jack-ass type of fun with half naked chicks" video.

I don´t wanna bring MJ into this discussion, but what made him incredibly special was that he could make fantastic, entertaining videos without ever being trashy.
And don´t get me wrong, I do love Prince and his "Gett Off" and "Sexy MF" etc., but that music itself feels trashy and not only looks and that´s the big difference. If you can get the "trasiness" into music, than that is art. Listen to the guitar solo in Gett Off. You can feel sex in it. If you can´t put it into music and think you can do it by acting trashy in the video, than that´s not art. That´s an act of desperation to get yourself attention especially when you do it by copying Madonna and others.

And Beyonce will feel ridiculous cause it doesn´t come natural from her. That "boring" side is better cause it´s natural.

I am sorry, but just looking at the very first picture on this thread, I see Madonna. It´s just everything. What is there that Madonna or someone else hasn´t done yet? Well, probably this video is not supposed to be "inventive" or something, just funny. But I´ve never gotten this type of (nowadays very predictable) fun.

1. It's not the only way it's just the only fun someone is actually doing these days. Give me this any day over the next "let's rip off a youtube trend for our video".

2. FYI, I and most others here are in our early 20s or more, I'm sure we can handle this. Of course children shouldn't watch this. That doesn't mean she shouldn't make it.

3. This is far better and more inventive than anything Madge did except maybe Like A Prayer. Gaga is making the most of the modern resources she has and as far as the "gross" level goes, if you can't handle a blurred out pussy, how do you handle anything?

4. I agree about MJ but it's worth noting he LOVED Gaga and wanted to work with her.

5. Gaga's songs are always drastically different from her videos. That's what she does. She has simple songs with complicated visuals and attaches her own meaning to them.

I think that the pop-trash aesthetic, as epitomised by Gaga, is kind of why John Waters is somewhat redundant these days.

The underground is mainstream. The lines are so blurred nowadays. I love it.

I´ve heard about that rumour of MJ liking her. I knew someome would bring that up. I don´t know if it´s true and I don´t care. But I think even if they had collaborated, the result would have been different. He wanted to work with Madge as well, but got out of it once he found out what direction she wanted to take it. lol

I think there is no surprise that most of Lady Gaga whole getup is Madonna I always say she's trying to be like her. But compare to alot of other artist part of my generation she is the most exciting and entertaining at the Moment.I'm Neutral towards this video but I like her though.

To me, the video for Telephone (which is fuckin' awesome, BTW), is more like No Doubt's It's My Life than anything else mentioned. The campiness, the female-murderer-goes-to-jail plot, everything. No Doubt's video is ALOT tamer, though!

Yeah the very first picture is one outfit of about 30 in that video.. that doesn't mean the entire jail concept is ripped from Who's That Girl too.

Besides, we all know what Jailhouse Madonna was referring to: http://www.youtube.com/wa...Kw#t=7m12s

i think ppl should lay off the "copying" accusations.

Its 2010. What can she do that hasn't been done already? She's tryin her damn hardest to come up with fresh and exciting things, which is a lot if u compare her to her peers. Look at Beyonce- the riff of Crazy in Love is from another song, the Single Ladies chorepohgraohy is a sytraight up copy and paste. Those r the 2 most defying moments of her career! Based on other ppl's work! That's Gaga's biggest competiton, and look how much of a rehash she is!

Ppl tend to forget that as more time passes, it becomes more and more difficult to come up with new things, as they've probably already been done. MJ was in a very good position in the early 80s. He incorporated the style and imagery of musical theatre into popular music. What is Beat It and Smooth Criminal? Remeber the Time? Dangerous? MUSICAL THEATRE! What he did then is now the benchamrk for a choreographed stylized music video. But if he hadn't done it, I'm sure someone else would've thought of it and brought it up somewhere along the line. He was the right guy with the vision and the moves to make it work. If Gaga was alive in 1985 maybe it could've been her.

So it is more difficult to be fresh in 2010 than it was in 1985. It is way more difficult, The rock era has been on for 60 years. That's a lot of time for ppl to come up with things. What is left? All the chicks who dance are copying Janet. Any girl who is sexualized is copying Madonna. Anybody who dresses crazy is coopying Cynd. Anyone using melisma is copying Whitney. Aybody who uses heavy funk precussion is copying Prince. There's just nothin left to do that is new. All Gaga could do is draw inspiration fro many different thigns and try to make it her own. And she's doina damn good, job, i must say. biggrin

I know MJ was in a good position cause he was mainly starting in this area, but I think you can agree that generally speaking, there were very few people even back then who could make something exciting and entertaining without the video being about sex or something like that which is an easy way to draw attention. Gaga is definately not the only "copy-cat". You don´t see anything original, that´s true, cause it seems that everything´s already been done before, but why everybody keeps on focusing on subjects like that without trying to bring some real emotions to the music. She may be trying to push the boundaries etc., but do you think we live in times where pushing any kind of boundaries is even necessary? I think they´ve been pushed to a place where you cannot push them anymore cause that little bit left is what would turn it into pornography. It seems that we´re just enjoying the cheapness we´re in. And I am speaking generally, not just about this video.

@purplesweat he never wanted to work with her, a RUMOR created to make her seem like she actually has talent, which she doesn't have much of. Don't believe everything you hear(most MJ fans should know that)

I'm 20 years old and Lady Gaga is boring to me. Age thing has nothing to do with it.I has to do with your level of maturity. She wears stupid(yes stupid, not "creative") outfits to get attention and really makes mediocre songs. You will have people who easily amused saying "OMG DID U See lady GAGas outfit? it was so weird omg omg". Can she sing? Yeah I'm sure she can sing a bit, but she is not, in NO WAY a huge talent. She's mediocre, and being mediocre will only bring you so far.
