You've never heard the songs Money or Another Brick in The Wall...SOMEwhere? "We don't need no education..." That is just nutty talk. You need to crawl out of that well.

it cracks me up when people slag off bands like the Stones or Pink Floy (or, say, the Beatles ) saying that everything that's come since is so much better. as if any of what came since would have even happened without those earlier bands expanding rock and popular music in general to a place that their favorite newer acts could even exist

Sure. But that does not necessarily make them better. >>

Sure. But that does not necessarily make them better. Oh, of course. But a total lack of appreciation or respect for the work of artists that are direct influences for our favorite music is a head-scratcher. If an artist that someone loves bows at the alter of a certain artist that came before them, I often have a hard time believing there isn't something of value in that original inspiration.

What about people who like those dinosaur favorites who fail to mention the earlier dinosaurs that paved the way for them? There's no law requiring genuflection before any artist, no matter how unassailable they may seem. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! If they stopped with The Final Cut, I would say Pink Floyd hands down. After Roger left, the band seemed more intent on forging ahead with the Pink Floyd brand rather than creating anything new or exciting or thought-provoking.
Radiohead hasn't been around long enough to parody themselves, so you can't make a balanced comparison. However, for what I like about Radiohead; what they emote musically and the words Thom Yorke sings...I don't think they've touched what was put on vinyl with Final Cut. And those were just leftovers from The Wall...

Not got to Radiohead yet, one of those supposed epic bands I've just not had the time to find up 'til now. They are on my list though, so I'll reserve judgment until I've given them a thorough listen.
But for anyone that doesn't like the Floyd, I give you five words:- COMFORTABLY NUMB GUITAR F*CKING SOLO! 'Nuff said www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site!

Also agree. The only thing I would add is taking Radiohead back a little further to the 'My Iron Lung' EP. It's more like a mini album. Amazingly creative and beautiful stuff on that. As much as I like Floyd, Radiohead are far more consistent, and most importantly move me a lot more than Floyd.

Pink Floyd, all the way !!!!
I was 17 and being there when THE WALL album was released 1979 - and the WALL movie 1982..... this music is a cornerstone to me, also Dark Side Of The Moon, Animals, Wish You Were Here, Meddle.... Radiohead, I only like Karma Police and Creep. I don't care / can't get into the rest. - [Edited 3/15/10 9:16am] Prince 4Ever.

What's next: The Rolling Stones or The Strokes? Please... ANY group from the 90s or the 00s has nothing to do against one of those 60s-70s old legends, and I'm 24 years old Age doesn't make something better. If it's shit back in the 70s, it's still shit now. Personally, I say Radiohead. Pink Floyd never did it for me, except for two songs. let us enjoy ourselves, this rhythm is ill. i want to sit on your penis

PINK FLOYD or RADIOHEAD
thanks no to both, I'd rather take Rocky Sharpe & the Replays instead in fact... I think they deserve a thread of their own The Compromise Theory:
Based on my analysis, I believe the government faked the plane crash and demolished the WTC North Tower with explosives. The South Tower, in a simultaneous but unrelated plot was brought down by actual terrorists. Is it a deal?
