Stones = Overrated dinosaur rock

If the Stones are overrated, then rock and roll is not worthy to begin with

Even though I made my choice, it's easy to step aside and have a somewhat more detached look upon the matter. Even though Pink Floyd had some more decades to work their magic, this question can only be settled a few more decades in, when Radiohead became the same kind of disgruntled old men as Pink Floyd are now and THEN see how many albums they have in lots of people's list of 'best album'.

The current lists are dominated by people who grew up with Radiohead, so logically they have a headstart when it comes to lists. In the NME list of best albums of all time they both have three albums, but Radiohead comes out on top. But they have Oasis on the first position, so I am not really impressed with that list. UK lists tend to over-exaggerate teh influence of British albums, so I like Acclaimed Music's album top 3000 of all time waaaay better, as a global grade tool of opinions.

Again, Radiohead comes out on top. So, there is no accounting for taste, it seems. I say, hurray for Pink Floyd and Radiohead BOTH.

Only ever Pink Floyd. Who can take their place when they're so unique?

Dark Side of the Moon and cannabis. My. Fucking. God.

Pink Floyd is forever in my top 10 acts of all time. Dark Side to the Wall...they are flawless.

I am a fan of Radiohead...but someone here said something about melody, that RH is seriously lacking. However, they are great live. But no way do they touch Floyd imo.

Pink Floyd without question.

They are a sophisticated band where all members contribute and are polished musicians and songwriters.

Absolutely amazing band.

Floyd. If I bothered to, I could get into some of their stuff properly I feel. I also dig "see Emily play", even if it is very different to their more famous stuff later on.

Radiohead on the other hand sounds like music to slit your wrists to. Their music is often very pretty from the bits I hear, but very depressing aswell. An odd combination for sure, but one Iam not interested in at the moment.

I am teasing, of course. There is no bad choice here, whatever floats your boat.

I saw an interesting BBC doc about Pink Floyd. Forgot it's name, but it could have easily be called "Grumpy Old Men", wink
Real interesting to see how they came together and then changed, clashed and broke up and they are still bickering. If I remember, it was filmed just before or just after that Live 8 thingie.

Ok, unowhat..I've only heard a little bit of Radiohead. I adore the Floyd. That group is what rock is all about. No one can touch there emotion delivered in everything they did. This is my first post since 2008 and probably only my second post. I'm off to hear more Radiohead to see just how any group can compare with the Floyd, knowing no group could possibly.

Everybody is allowed to have a different opinion. Thank God we have so many different artists out there to capture our imagination and hearts! For me, The Cure is what rock is all about.

Pink Floyd, OBVIOUSLY

What's next: The Rolling Stones or The Strokes?

Please...

ANY group from the 90s or the 00s has nothing to do against one of those 60s-70s old legends, and I'm 24 years old lol

Gimme The Strokes over the Stones, too. lol

nod
Same.

The stones are boring and overtime have become more stereotype rock than the archetype rock they think they are.

Radiohead and Strokes anyday.

Well if your definition of rock and roll is limited to the Stones, then perhaps you're right.

highfive
agreed. classic rock was innovative in its time, but better stuff has followed.
