Annie Lennox Appreciation Thread

I haven't listened to her in awhile, but have always like her music. Today a friend was trying to figure out the name of a song, and who sang it. It ended up being Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This by The Eurythmics,so tonight I was listening to some of her songs. I love these to name a few...

Eurythmics are one of the only artists that ever threaten to knock Prince off of the throne for me. If you combine their career with Annie's solo material, it might be close.

Eurythmics are extraordinary. Annie Lennox's solo career has been tremendous as well, but I miss the edge that Dave Stewart brings to the equation.

I've always liked her deep, well-grounded voice - for a female singer, I think it's quite rare among women pop vocalists. I tend not to like the high-pitched, chirping voices of so many female artists these days, they all sound the same. Lennox stands out in this respect I think.

much as i love her voice and her amazing talent, none of her solo
albums have captured my imagination anywhere close to what all the
eurythmics albums have done for me.

she's still got a whole bunch of amazing, brilliant songs on her
albums but as a whole, her albums feel a bit boring and sleepy
imo.

now, the eurythmics stuff love all those albums still get some
regular play from me. savage being in my top 10 albums by anyone
anytime.

I think Songs of Mass Destruction was definitely more interesting than anything she had ever done as a solo artist.

I LOVE those early Eury vids. They were true visual visionaries, and their evolution through the music video medium is just fascinating!

Oh, and the huge surprise in the form of the video for "The Walk" coming to the surface was one of my highlights of the past few years.

Diva cant be beat.. Medusa holds great memories for me...

I just couldnt get into Bare at all and I never picked up Song of Mass Destruction.. I should give it a listen.. I really love Annie Lennox....

The Eurythmics stuff knocks me out too....
Ive always felt a "prince-ly" vibe with them too (which i cant explain)...

For example: Savage gives me the same vibe as Lovesexy
and
Sweet Dreams and 1999 are like brother-albums to me.

In fact, I was just listening to Gary Numan Pleasure Principle, Sweet Dreams and 1999 and those 3 albums just mesh to me.
Its like Pleasure Principle gave birth to two genius kids.
