Really LOVE this song..Its one of my favorite songs from the 90's and from Janet herself.
Some people think I'm kinda cute
But that don't compute when it comes 2 Y-O-U.

The great thing about the janet. album is that you can hear the love on the whole album. She was truly in love and happy. Just about every song reflected that in some fashion. It was sexy, playful, sensual, and everything else in between. And how four years can change a girl with the dark mood on The Velvet Rope.

I loved that she left the masculine look of 1814 behind, and did a 180. I didn't expect her to always wear a uniform type outfit, but this look was very organic, hip, and not too much. Good times.

I love the janet album and this is one of my favourite Janet tracks.

Summer of `93.

I remember being quite surprised that this was her lead single to follow up Rhythm Nation, as it was so laid-back and sensual in a way we had never really "SEEN" mostly from Janet before. This coupled with the not-so-innocent portrayal of Justice made me feel like I had to get to know Janet again.

Classic Janet bow

I remember when this video and song premiered. Everyone was shocked that Penny grew up into a beautiful and sexy woman smile I wish she would make more songs like this. It shows her vocal talent but still has a nice groove to it.

I agree with this!! That's why I love the janet. album it's very REAL yet patient when it comes to love and sensuality. Which was a different approach from what her competitors at the time were doing. It's also one of the many reasons why that album was so successful. I also loved that Janet wasn't exposing her body. She still was very much a tomboy. Later on you can see acts followed that look though Janet's was genuine.

Never got into this one, probably her most overrated single. confused "If" or "This Time" are so much better from the same album it's not even funny.

It had radio-friendliness written all over it - and that's what mattered the most. "If" isn't really the type of a song most people wanted to hear when being stuck in a traffic jam.

The video also worked quite well during that time. That type of "friends hanging out together" -thing was really trendy then. It also has those rather pretentious one-liners at the intro section, but people loved that.

I remember back in the day the single was criticized for having the vocals placed too low in the mix. That's quite odd from today's perspective. They sound almost loud compared to how things have been mixed for the past 15+ years.

Just because you never got into it doesn't make it overrated. This is a great song, one of the best from janet and one of the best from the 90's.

This is my favorite album, by Janet. In my opinion and this is JUST my opinion, everything that came afterward, pales in comparison and seems contrived.

I totally agree. janet. was a bit of a disappointment for me, although I think anything would have been after Rhythm Nation 1814. The album's a bit hit-or-miss, and "That's the Way Love Goes" falls squarely in the middle for me.

I try to be unbiased, but I was 12 or 13 when janet. and its singles were unfolding, so it really part of a very formative era for me. I truly adore the album. Bought it in summer of 1993 but also bumped it even in the summer of `94 dubbed onto a cassette with the R.Kelly remix of "Anytime Anyplace" on it.

I will never understand the hype surrounding this song. Its good, but its very overrated. I mean, it recieves way more reccurrent airplay than any other Janet song. Its actually one of the weakest tracks on the janet. album, and i never listen to it, so i guess i'm outta the loop. shrug

This was the last Janet CD, that people understood what she was singing and the last of her material, that did not require subtitles...
