The Motels appreciation thread

Anyone into the moody new wave pop of the 80's band The Motels? I've been listening to a lot of their music today. They were such a good band. I love Martha Davis' songwriting. i wish I could have seen the band perform at Madame Wong's back in the late 70's and early 80's.

"Suddenly Last Summer", has got the funkiest most eeriest chord progressions that I have ever heard!!

The video is errie to me shortrini. Well! I might be putting my foot in my mouth. The only song I like by the Motel is "Only the Lonely". I know you heard of the group Evanescence the lead singer Amy Lee. They have that same blank gaze. They remind me of "The Motels" 80's group. Do you agree? It's just the stare. But I like their music!

LOVE The Motels! I bought their 2nd album, "Careful," only because I loved the painting on the front of it ("Acquired Mannerisms") and when I heard Martha's voice, I was SOLD! From that point on, it was "All Four One," "Little Robbers" and "Shock!" It's a shame they're not around anymore makin' music. Rumor had it that Martha wasn't feelin' the "pop" stuff Capitol was "making" them record, so she broke up the band and went solo. I met them once in Boston at an album signing in 1982 and she was really, really nice; sweet, even. Nice 2 meet another Motels fan up in here! Whoo HOO!
Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

I am a sucker for minor chord progressions. This is what makes, "Suddenly last summer", eerie in every way. Regarding Evanescence, I don't really see the similarities.
