David Bowie On Soul Train I've been listening to Young Americans lately I didn't know Luther Vandross wrote one of the songs in the album untill very recently, I knew he used to sing back-up for him though.

I like this song. I first heard it in the movie "A Knights Tale" with Heath Ledger and Shannon Sossamon.
Never knew Bowie was on Soul Train yet alone that artist took questions from the audience. Very nice. Tx Harle

I think David was the third "non-R&B" act on the show after Gino & Elton. I could be wrong.

Excellent post!
I really dig Bowie from 1974 to 1976. In this performance, he was coked out of his mind. His albums in that period were such a stark departure from the glam era that it would have been easy to forget he had such an impressive catalog (Ziggy, Aladdin Sane, et al)before the Plastic Soul era. "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't "Golden Years" turned down by Elvis? "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

his management, because the Colonel didn't own a piece of it. His management did everything in their power to make Elvis uncool as possible following the Army.
