Everyone keeps piling on Mr. Davis but Ms. Houston out there because she needs the money and this is what she's done for a living... for over twenty years. Unfortunately, her voice is SHOT... DOA. As Soul-Alive mentioned, Ms. Houston is going to have to sit down and see where she goes from here, and that's going to be daunting because she now middle age. To bad so sad.

I don't know much about Clive Davis other than he has a good ear for what is popular and he championed certain artists that I thought were incredibly talented.
Whitney is one of them. Say what you will about the music business, but Whitney is facing middle age, a bitter divorce, and is just coming out of a horrible, horrible drug addiction. Most of Whitney's woes are her own fault. This tour is an opportunity for her to make some money, do something positive, and rebuild not only her career but her life. I agree that she shouldn't have taken it on the road before she was ready because she's not only doing more damage to her legacy, but also cheating her fans of the show they thought they were going to get. But it's a bit much. Janet didn't have a drug problem; her career's in decline. Madonna didn't have a drug problem; her career is on the tabloid pages rather than in the studio. Anita Baker, who? Most of the artists in Whitney's generation cannot sell records at the same level as in the 80's. Ten years to fifteen years from now, we'll probably see Gaga in the same position. The music business eats its young and women suffer much more than men. For every Aretha, Patti, and Teena, you will have hundreds of "pop" stars who just flame out. Whitney's redemption has about as much as a shot as Mike Tyson has of becoming heavyweight champion again. Maybe her *best* days are gone, but she actually had talent. She can recover from this, but it won't be overnight. By the media piling on like this...she's gonna be on the Old and Busted Dr. Drew tour faster than you can say Tom Sizemore. Some people tell me I've got great legs...

Maybe good ole Clive is trying to recoup that money he invested in marketing and promoting her latest record. Labels just don't have money like that anymore. That comeback story costed him (the label) some serious money, I'm sure. Maybe she WAS on an up swing and couldn't handle the pressure of it all and turned once again to her fix. I pray this is not the case though. I wish her well in health, even if she can't no longer bring the goods on stage.

So expect her to go through a long process of OFF NIGHT humiliations untill her debt is paid. I feel bad for her,,,,ALL of those "grand diva entrances/exits" she invested on her live set are the ONLY high points in her performances, but if they couldn't hide the fact that she ain't "The voice" no more. Whitney tried to tell Clive that she didn't think it was necessary for her to make a comeback attempt to begin with. Clive was still in good business with Kelly Clarkson & Alicia Keys. But the old man wasn't satisfy with young Whitney-clones. He wanted his original chocolate valley girl back in the stereo and on-stage to help him take back the industry from the likes of Beyonce & Lady Gaga. And now poor Whitney is getting laugh at for being a total failure. F*** Clive Davis for this crap! Andy is a four letter word.

Sydney fans bail on woeful Whitney Houston
* By Kathy McCabe * From: The Daily Telegraph * February 25, 2010 12:00AM WHITNEY Houston got off to such a great start at her Acer Arena concert last night. After the savaging she copped after her opening Australian show in Brisbane on Monday night, the Sydney crowd were undoubtedly on her side and for the first 50 minutes, both performer and the 12,000 strong crowd seemed to be having a great time. But when Houston returned to the stage after a 13-minute costume change it all went downhill. Her acoustic set of old favourites unfortunately could not hide the very obvious problems with her voice, the strain and those coughs that punctuated the Brisbane show were back. By the time she got to the gospel section of the show a steady stream of disappointed, saddened and angry fans started streaming out the doors. "Some of it's been beautiful and some it is just horrible," Shane Norquay said. "It feels like she's trying to be herself but it's not working." Did you attend Whitney's show? Tell us about it below Another fan Bernadette Latta didn't mince her words as she left the show she had been looking forward to since her son gave her the $200 ticket for Christmas. "It's terrible. I have never walked out before a concert finished but that was just terrible," she said. "I'll be suggesting my son tries to get a refund." But to be fair the vast majority of the crowd stayed, willing Whitney on. They were rewarded as Houston rallied with the final three songs delivering an energetic and upbeat finale with I Wanna Dance With Somebody, How Will I Know and her signature hit I Will Always Love You. Before Houston took the stage, her daughter Bobbi came out the front to rev the fans up, waving as they screamed and cheered her. The 46-year-old appeared defiant and strong as she opened with For The Lovers and the crowd continued to roar their approval as she sang Nothing But Love in dedication to them. Houston was singing about her life and was putting every bit of emotion into it, determined to show she had regained her strength after battling drug addiction and her divorce from singer Bobby Brown. She was hitting some impressive high notes and girlishly engaged her fans, blowing kisses and reminding them how much she had appreciated their support through the tough times. She performs again at Hope Estate in the Hunter Valley on Saturday. [Edited 2/24/10 13:15pm]

A whole lot of love for Whitney Houston
* By Diana Plater * From: AAP * February 25, 2010 1:37AM POP diva Whitney Houston redeemed herself at her Sydney concert overnight. It was as if her audience at Acer Arena really wanted her to succeed in the wake of bad reviews from her Brisbane show earlier this week. During the first half she rocked the audience, who were on their feet even before the first song. The second half was not so successful. She returned in unflattering black sparkling pants and woolly vest and during her acoustic and gospel songs she couldn't reach some of the higher notes. Some in the audience described the concert as "bizarre and weird'', with Houston stopping and starting in the middle of songs. But the show stopper was I will Always Love You. There was big break in the middle of the song as she went to the back of the stage, returning to lift the roof. Despite her patchy performance and at times incoherence, the audience warmed to her. The tour is scheduled to continue to the Hunter Valley, Melbourne and Adelaide. [Edited 2/24/10 13:20pm]

It fell apart when she came back out and she recovered towards the end? Whatever she was doing probably wore off.

Oh excuse you, but old man Clive is also looking to make a quick buck. Remember, all record label CEO values the personal AND professional feelings of their stockbrokers ahead of those of the artists AND their fans. Sad but true.
