Jody Watley repsonds to my question regarding inspiration of "Friends" Scriptgirl said that she read somewhere that the song Friend was about Jermaine Stewart and i wasn't convinced... I became Jody's friend on Facebook following her performance at BB Kings last year... So figured if you wanna know the truth just ask and i did..
Kevin January 8 at 12:45pm Greetings JW, I was wondering if you could clear up a discussion that i'm having with someone on Prince.org.. we are discussing the video posted about your feelings about the Unsung episode and in it you refer to Jermaine Stewart as a good friend who passed away many years ago and another member seem to think that 'Friends" was wriiten about him after a falling out...I disagree and wanted to know if you can clear this up if it's not too personal.. In regard to Jermaine Stewart and "Unsung" they didn't ask me about Jermaine - and with "Unfiltered" I'm trying to keep my comments related to what was cut from my interview. I did totally discuss the incident with the secret shows that were done in my 'Unsung' interview which made Jermaine's inclusion relevant for Part 2 - because as I mentioned it was the type of thing Shalamar fans who still care - would find somewhat compelling. At one time, Jermaine was indeed my best friend and confidante ...and in the context of that particular conversation, he was still my good friend, which is why I still referred to him as such. Back in the day we wouldn't have dreamt of having direct contact like that to an artist. She's always came off cool like that though. Very down to earth type of woman. | |
