Wait, ain't seeingvoices from the Middle East? hmmm Maybe that's why he said that, but this is why prince.org is an informative site. We should educate him about Cyndi rather than just bash him for that comment. I do wanna slap him because being from the U.S., Cyndi was FAR from a one-hit wonder. FAR from it. lol

Back on topic, Gaga does seem more Bowie-ish than Madonna/Cyndi.

seriously dude, why don't you just admit that you have no clue what you are talking about, and move on?

Cyndi Lauper had numerous chart singles internationally, as well as the United States. She is a well-known music icon that has maintained a successful career for nearly 3 decades. I've read some uninformed things on this site, but referring to her as a "one hit wonder" has to be up near the top.

Exactly.

Dude, it's a fact! I'm no Cyndi Lauper fan by any means, but she does have hits!

Check the chart history!

Thanks dude...

With Zero Impact Internationally ,Topping the charts with hits to infulence people and the music industry is a thing ( Like MJ, Prince,Madonna (negative Infulence) , and topping it with No infulence is another.

No one knows Cyndi lauper outside the borders of the United states lol I have nothing against Cyndi tho, Im just stating my opinion biggrin for me , she is a one hit wonder. lol

Plus, If she charted the U.S charts, the U.S charts doesn't mean the world.....Thanks.

And Im done with this subject nod
[Edited 2/17/10 12:49pm]

There are many acts that don't chart internationally. Someone could say the same thing about Kylie in the US. She had one big hit before "Can't Get You Out of My Head" came about. Now she has 2 big US hits.

BTW, it's not an "opinion" when you state a "fact". An opinion means you "like" or "dislike" something. If u don't like Cyndi, that's one thing, but to classify her as a "one hit wonder" is not an opinion, it's a non-truth.

Which i find kind of interesting, nobody else will. But there it is. lol

Agreed. She's had Top 10 and #1 hits from the US, UK, Australia, Japan, and beyond. The simple fact that someone made a comparison to some alleged one-hit wonder over 25 years from their first album speaks volumes about her staying power, and talent.

ON TOPIC - GaGa is more like Bowie/Elton John than Madonna/Cyndi. However let`s see what she brings 2 the table next time as she could sink without trace.

OFF TOPIC - I`m not a massive Cyndi fan but after reading this thread I had 2 go & dig out Who Let In The Rain. This is my favourite Cyndi track & her vocals are awesome. Haunting, raw & beautiful all at the same time!

Pop music has made so many changes since the late 60's that nowadays almost EVERYONE sounds like a copy of a previous artist; Lady GaGa borrows heavily from Bowie's 70-74 era, Elton John, Madonna's first album, Annie Lennox and perhaps Christina Aguilera.

I like her hits, but anyway her sound is way too corny; I mean, right now she's delivering songs like "Dress You Up" or "Gennie in a Bottle"; time will tell if she leaves behind this "catchy but silly hits" phase and enters her own "Like a Prayer" era...

Anyway, I understand the hate around this chic; but in my case, while I'm not mad about her or "The Fame" album, I feel that she has that "something" that makes her, in my eyes, enjoyable and respectable, and even charming...oh and she has PERFECT, GORGEOUS legs...best legs since Kylie Minogue...

I can't believe on a Prince site so many folks are so seemingly oblivious to the obvious.
Like Prince and 'Purple Rain', the general public who don't really give a fig about Cyndi recognise 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' as her main hit or the song she's most identified with. That's all Seeingvoices meant i'm sure.

Well, Thanks....

You Just can't have an opinion on here, and I'm Seriously thinking of leaving the board nod, unless the mods do something regarding the personal insults...Not only now but on previous threads and constantly....

Obviously I made a crime when I said " Cyndi " is a one hit-wonder rolleyes ,they take things so fucking seriously , this is a message Board ,created to share opinions , if someone doesn't agree with me on something then they can politely convince me with their point of view , and I will be more than welcome to accept it, Its getting Ridiculous and Out of control on here , they just cannot get their point across without calling you names and throw insults.

That is insulting to Dale Bozzio. She made some good records in her day. Lady Gaga isn't even going to be having a "day"...much less making any good records.
