Mariah Carey Scraps Remix Album in Favor of New Studio LP March 22, 2010 After a few false starts, Mariah Carey’s Angels Advocate has been permanently grounded. Instead of releasing the star-studded remix album, the pop diva has turned her focus toward a new studio project. The ill-fated collection of remixes from last year’s Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel had most recently been set for a March 30 release exclusively at Target stores and iTunes. It was to feature contributions from Snoop Dogg, R. Kelly, Jodeci, Mary J. Blige, and Ludacris, among others. According to reports, select singles may be released from the shelved album. “It won’t go to waste,” assures Carey’s management. Two singles, “Up Out My Face” featuring Nicki Minaj and the Ne-Yo-assisted “Angels Cry” have already been sent to iTunes, while several other tracks have leaked. But have no fear, lambs. The songbird is already planning her next move. “We are looking to go possibly to another studio album or Christmas album,” says the source. “The decision hasn’t been totally made yet. It’s a creative process that cannot be rushed.”

Yeah because that "remix" album would not have even sold what the regular album did...plus it leaked already and most of the tracks were not even remixed. She really just needs to not do music for a while and let the industry change...let us miss her. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

I don't think she is doing anything right now. She might be composing songs for a future release but I don't think she is working towards any definitive project. They just say about a new studio or Christmas album so they will have a reason for scrapping the remix album other than 'none in the label believes it will succeed'

The idea of releasing remixed versions of songs from a flop album was 'hare-brained' from day one. Whether L.A. Reid saw the light first or Mariah decided to change course, I'm not disappointed with the news.

i'm ready for all new MC. i hope they the meant what they said though about figuring out a way to get some of those songs heard, especially the Mary J. Blige duet.
the new Christmas album is actually an idea she's had for about 5 years now, and is supposed to come out along with a special she has been planning for with HBO. but given that her current management is shit, i can see her still putting that whole plan on hold and just go for another studio album.

thats what i thought but i have never heard of her re-signing, maybe they re-did the deal after MIMI took off for a few more albums there is one album or 2 from def jam that she co-owms wit them copyright MC and def Jam, so maybe that doesn't count as an album cause DJ doesn't own all of it? yes Cb was on island was the 1st one.

... i think Mimi should have a style makeover. The way she drsses and acts prevents ppl from takin her seriously. I mean... her tour outfits were so cringe worthy. She's a 40 year old woman wearing tutus that r 4 sizes too small. She always looks stuffed into her clothes. Why r her fake boobs always hangin out? She was on some Pamela Anderson shit at the fuckin globes! Its so embarassing! Nobody is sayin she has to dress like a granny, but her get ups r inapporpriate and are makin her seem cheap and desperate. I love Ms. Carey and regard her as a legend of the 1st degree, but the way she presents herself disgusts me- even little Nick looks embarassed when they go out 2gether... The remix album bein scrapped is no surprise, I'm apathetic. I never supported the project anyway...

Mariah needs a total MUSICAL makeover, forget the wardrobe, that has nothing to do with her output, honestly shes over 40 she isnt gonna sell what she sold, deal with it, and start going for something more memorable than "touch my body" or "Obsessed" which are songs that even Kesha wouldnt do, i mean is that the level that MC wants to be on? And this whole mid-tempo shit, later, its tired, no one cares, all the album cuts and mid tempos all seem to gel into one another and no one has a clue what song is on what album, thats how UNMEMORABLE her tracks have become at this point, and honestly this has always been her major, flaw, she is not a strong album artist at all. Sorry lambs its time for MC to get into something retro, maybe dance, or even jazzy sade like, and for those who say, "oh that would be boring" sorry, but MC has been boring for over a decade now, and had it not been for the "eye candy" she is, she would have nothing.
And for the record almost all the REMIXES are on the net, and have been for a few months, and they are better off not released. They need to scrap the idea for a Christmas CD. Her voice is in such a shambles and her musical direction has changed so much since she recorded the amazing "Merry Christmas", I'm afraid she will end up whispering her way through all of those holiday songs and I can only imagine how many guest rappers she'll have helping her get through "White Christmas". And I can't believe she's continuing to stay with Def Jam. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

After "The Wind" and hearing her scat on the remix for "Anytime You Need A Friend", I've been longing to hear her experiment more with Jazz. It's time for her to change gears. The teeny-bopper, hip-hop songs just aren't believeable any more. "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley

She sounded great on the Angels Advocate tour. I wouldn't mind a Christmas album especially since she's been wanting to do it for awhile now. Maybe that would make up for the remix album and she can break out from Def Jam. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

but that's subjective, LD. to me she's actually one of the few artists out there who has been consistently giving me consistent records as time went by. her music is very appealing to me, even when the lyrics aren't great or the vocals are so and so (i.e. Charmbracelet), i still enjoy her for the little things she adds to her music, such as the adlibs, vocal arrangements/backing vocals/layering, etc. not to mention how insanely catchy her melodies are. those to me are things that separate her from many others.

Sometimes when I have my pod on shuffle and a song from MOAIA comes on I hear it differently and honestly I think it's near EOM level. I just wish there was one good break down track like Fly Like A Bird or I Wish You Well (you know I live for that song). Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Well everything about every artist will be objective and we will all differ on singles and albums, and most will say that i dislike MC which is the furthest from the truth, because years back i was always praising her for the Glitter album and certain things she did in the past and in spots since then, but i will also blast her for things too. To me she has gotten weaker with albums but it was an area that i felt she wasnt strong in to begin with, which is not necessarily bad, i mean Duran Duran are not that great of album artists but have strong tracks, Girls Aloud probably my favorite pop girl group ever, are far from strong album makers, though they are getting better on that front, they are one of the best in brit pop. But with MC i just feel she hasnt had the strong singles anymore on top of album tracks, and thats what is causing albums to seem to blend into one, especially the last 3, which look like the same photo session and feel like the same recording sessions too. I feel as an artist MC who depends alot on production, has stopped looking for the production and settles for whomever is hot right now and can get her a hit, and its making more or less sound like everyone else. And her other major flaw are Music Videos, i never undertood how MC, could not be able to pull off a music video that worked, here and there she has a few, but for the most part, the videos seem to blend into one, she is either in water or in the rain, wind blowing her hair, etc,,,same camera angles etc...the lack of imagination seems to have gone.
