Great track from their most underrated album, along with 1993's "Millennium" & 2006's "Illumination". "Turn It Into Something Good" & "Pride" are my two favorites from "Faces", and the title track is perfection. Exiles of the Nation

Great track from their most underrated album I sooo much have to agree. we had plenty of threads in here debating Faces pros & cons, and it's hard to find fellow fans I really really really dig that album. since 30 years . [Edited 2/23/10 8:41am] Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

"Faces" would have been a much better flowing album if Maurice White & co had released it as a single LP. Unfortunately, it's rife with filler material like "Song in My Heart."

You know, I tried making FACES into a single album with just 9 songs like most of their classic albums, but it just didn't work. I think EWF wanted to make some kind of grand final statement with this one, especially since it was their last with guitarist Al McKay. Their first LP with Al was 1973's "Head To The Sky".... FACES had a track called "Take It To The Sky", which also had elements of "That's The Way Of The World" mixed in. I look at EWF's albums from 1973-1980 as one long book. "FACES" was a mix of sounds from all of those albums combined into one. The final chapter from the classic lineup. Exiles of the Nation

Faces was the end of EWFs core era. and I wouldn't know how to edit it down to a single album either. and why should I? that was in vinyl days anyway, on CD format Faces is just as long as many recent releases who wouldn't fit on one vinyl disc either Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. I like the album, but I agree that it would "flow" better as a single LP.Here's the tracklist that I came up with: SIDE ONE--- Pride Turn It Into Something Good Back On The Road Song In My Heart Win Or Lose SIDE TWO--- And Love Goes On Sailaway Share Your Love Faces I removed songs like "Let Me Talk",which really isn't that great to me From my tracklist,I think "Pride" should have been the first single.

My only problem with 'Faces' is that, considering that it's a 2-LP set, there's not alot of diversity in the songs. They had alot of room to stretch out, experiment, try new things, but they played it safe. One of the best songs is the title track,it would have been nice to have more stuff like that on the album! Hell,an entire side of this album should have been jazzy, instrumental music that touches on their jazz and Afro/latin roots.'Faces' is a decent album and it is well-produced,but it's not quite the big grand statement that it could have been.

I've told you before Let Me Talk was the jam on this album. Don't laugh at my funk

"....50 million voices mumbling on the street.."
Hey Phunkdaddy...that was my Jam too...hahaha....U go Maurice White!!!!! I will always feel that FACES is underrated simply because it didnt have that Breakout song like Let's Groove, for example...so although EWF philes loved Let Me Talk, it was not a huge hit, so in many ways the rest of the album suffered....and releasing "YOU" as the next single kinda lost additional momentum too..... PRIDE would have hit them hard...harkening back to funky EWF, with the Kalimba... Who knows....pure conjecture, of course. FACES in many ways is my fave EWF album outside of the classic albums in the 70s....insofar as they had the Legendary hits and FACES did not....but regardless, FACES is a very special EWF album...maybe as SoulAlive says, it is not experimental enough, notwithstanding the title track, but I can find alot of joy in many of the tracks it had.....unlike maybe IN the Name of Love which might be my least fave EWF album

I liked You back then but if you listen to it now the song didn't age well at all. [Edited 2/24/10 11:05am] Don't laugh at my funk

"Let Me Talk" has a great message, but musically, I think it's one of their most boring singles It lacks that 'special something' that characterizes their finest singles.I still insist that "Pride" should have been the first single.

didn't age well at all. "You" was a poor choice for a single. It's a tedious song.I think Columbia thought that it would be another "After The Love Is Gone",commercially.I would not have chosen it as a single. These should have been the singles,in this order: "Pride" "And Love Goes On" "Back On The Road" or "Win Or Lose" "Sailaway"

That's one of the standout tracks on the album It sorta takes them into rock/pop territory.
