Who's the best record producer out there right now? Because I'm having a hard time coming with the names of any good producers out there right now, let alone the best.
So give me the names of any truly great record producers our there right now, and tell me in your opinion who you think is best. I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

Martin Terefe is one of the best for the raw sound he gets T Bone Burnett is still one of the best Emilio Estefan is the most underrated of all time Mark Saunders is another Steve Lillywhite "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Who dey produce? Martin Terefe has produced Coldplay, the last 2 a-ha albums,Magne F,and worked with Radiohead Emilio Estefan is responsible for Gloria and tons of other latin music, from Marc Anthony to Paulina Rubio to Ricky Martin to Mana to tons of others, he doesnt get his due for being one of the best ever Mark Saunders has worked with Depeche Mode,Erasure,Madonna and worked on the current a-ha record Steve Lillwhite most notably worked with u2 most of his career T Bone Burnett has worked with John Mellencamp,Tom waits,Norah Jones,Ryan Adams, the Jayhawks,Paul McCartney and tons of others I leave out the beatmakers like timbaland and others because to me thats not producing, making everyone sound the same? not very creative to me "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

RED ONE
doo do do doo juust kidding, he's overrated if ernythang Brendan O'Brien is the best out there, concerning rock bands [Edited 2/14/10 16:37pm] "Not to sound cosmic, but I've made plans for the next 3,000 years," he says. "Before, it was only three days at a time."

"best" depends what you're going for. Radio hit? Club banger? Soul-stirring album cohesion? Underground appeal?

MY answer is Rick Rubin because he simply tends to bring the best out of individual recording acts, without imprinting them with his own sound. I wish I could be like that.

Yeah I think this person is talking about beatmakers...a producer often gets mixed up being called a "producer" however we may as well accept it because it's being written on the credits as is and they are NOT going to say "beatmaker: Timbaland"...no it's going to say producer.
Anyway Adisa, Im going to go with no one right now because I think things are making a drastic change. Neptunes are even slacking, Timbaland made some good tracks too about 2 years ago, but his time is past too. The people who are working with Lady Gaga, Ke$ha, etc. right now should be called the best producers right now because everything she touches is going gold I'm thinking the dance producers are the ones in control. Hip hop is not even on the map that much these days so isn't new r&b. Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.
