Damn her dancing is really lazy. How the hell she grew up in Barbados and act like she can't dance. Bish moves like she's 81 instead of 21. Rihanna Did NOT jack beyonce dances, Beyonce JACKED the island dances. lol, I said poses, this lazy bish is barely dancing *air quotes* to have jacked that off of Bey. Not that I consider Bey a great dancer, but that bish is definitely not lazy! shaking you ass and a slight wind is not a dance. But that posing crap Bey does, RiRi totally jacked them for this video. I'm thinking folk should just hire Ciara to liven up their videos with some real dance. That bish ain't lazy either LOL!

Nice video, Rihanna is attractive, great body, etc...but again she just seems to come off as a really mean person. And for people that say, well seperate that from the music side, well thats thing , YOU ARE A MEDIA STAR so the Beyonce's Justin's Britneys etc... people are gonna focus on the way you present yourself, if you wanna be a Media Star, and thats what you are, deal with it. Some of the video is also similar to this performance from Grace Jones (i.e green background and the striped mannequin)

Typical Melina video. Flashy colors, quick frames.
Neneh Cherry's "Buffalo Stance" video, Solange's "I Decided" video, Grace Jones zebra theme (forgot vid) and M.I.A "Boyz" video DOWNEE I expected a little more dancing but meh. So stiff. There's no excuse for that little shuffle and "twerk". Rihanna is from the islands. All they do is dance Where's your rhythm gal?

So she is now a cluster fuck of Salt N Pepa, Grace Jones and M.I.A.
except with the good music part. 2012: The Queen Returns

I'm sorry but, this video is like so many 90s dancehall videos I used to see on BET back in the day. There's a popart element, but I could post tons of vids like this one.
I know Rihanna's not the most original, but I think she nailed this one. It's the most fun from "Rated R" anyway. It fits perfectly with the Rude Boy theme: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rude_boy Rude boy, rudeboy, rudie, rudi or rudy were common terms for juvenile delinquents and criminals in 1960s Jamaica, and have since been used in other contexts.[1][2] During the late-1970s 2 Tone ska revival in England, the terms rude boy, rude girl and other variations were often used to describe fans of that genre, and this new definition continued to be used in the third wave ska subculture. In the United Kingdom in the 2000s, the terms rude boy and rude girl have become slang which mainly refer to people (largely youths) who are involved in street culture, similar to Gangsta or Badman.[3]
The first rude boys in the 1960s were associated with the poorer sections of Kingston, Jamaica, where ska, then rocksteady were the most popular forms of music. They dressed in the latest fashions at dancehalls and on the streets. Many of these rude boys started wearing sharp suits, thin ties, and pork pie or Trilby hats; inspired by United States gangster movies, jazz musicians and soul music artists. In that time period, disaffected unemployed Jamaican youths sometimes found temporary employment from sound system operators to disrupt competitors' dances (leading to the term dancehall crasher). This — and other street violence — became an integral part of the rude boy lifestyle, and gave rise to a culture of political gang violence in Jamaica. As the Jamaican diaspora grew in the United Kingdom during the 1960s, rude boy music and fashion, as well as the gang mentality, became a strong influence on the skinhead subculture.[4][5] My only problem is the unenthusiastic moves (I do like that lil clap she does though...cracks me up). She had me longing for the days of Patra. Whatever happened to her? "Be glad for what you had baby, what you've got..."

I'm not a huge Rihanna fan, but Rude Boy is one of her best songs so far. Simple, but memorable. It's one of those songs I just can't get out of my mind. But without that being an annoying factor. I was positively surprised to hear something like that from her. And the colorful video is kind of old school and perfect for the song. Love it [Edited 2/12/10 15:48pm]

I like it, would've preferred an actual storyline but the effects are a lot of fun. I wasn't aware M.I.A had trademarked the dancehall look/style btw...

She performed "Rude Boy" on Ellen today and looked more "awake" than she usually does. I liked the guitar licks at the beginning. I think it works well, live. I'm warming to the song, I guess...
