Jermaine said on a Dallas radio station today (Feb. 12) that he will NOT be working on her album, just the song for the film.
Lawrdd!! I'm so glad she's not working with JD anymore [Edited 2/13/10 11:57am]

LIKE I SAID! YOU ALL ARE SETTING YOURSELF UP for Disappointment if you think janet is going to do another Velvet Rope. I hope she makes her album a mixture between Damita Joe, AFY, 20 Y.O and Dicipline.

Who said that? Janet and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis have a bond that no other artists/producer duos have nor can duplicate and it's evident in her music from Control-AFY. I know they worked with her on Damita Jo and 20 Y.O. but the bond was interfered by unneeded producers and writers. When its' Janet, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis in the credits it's ALWAYS good. I can't think of one bad song where it was just those three. I hope she doesn't make another album like 20 Y.O.and Discipline. Those 2 albums were cute and just cute. Besides a few tracks I could do without the rest. If Jimmy & Terry aren't doing a full album. I hope they do her signature ballads and do what they do best by highlighting her harmonies and bringing out the soul in her voice. I didn't hear this when she worked with others. It's like she loses her spark when she doesn't work with people she bonds with. [Edited 2/14/10 11:08am] [Edited 2/14/10 11:09am]

[Edited 2/14/10 11:08am] [Edited 2/14/10 11:09am] There are a few things that need to happen if Janet is to really have a fruitful creative partnership with them again. First, Jam & Lewis need to update their sound and step it up with their production, since they veered sharply towards using samples as the foundation for an entire song by the time All For You rolled around. They haven't produced a big hit, or even really anything of note since AFY (the exception may be Gwen's Harajuku Girls and Chaka's last album) - there's a reason for that. Second, they need to learn to press the "EDIT" button and focus on creating a streamlined album for her. No bloated Damita Jo, please. I really feel as if her best bet is to work with them, but also work with other producers who seem to know how to get something great out of her, like Rodney (Feedback was one of her best uptempos in years - and it sounded like a Janet song should) or the Avila Brothers. I agree that Janet should not bother doing ballads with anyone else. [Edited 2/14/10 11:16am]

Almost all of their productions have a sample. I don't have a problem with that. It's the Hip-Hop influence in their music. I don't care for Rodney but I'm confident that he can bring something new to the table working with Janet this time around. I love the demo for Not my Love. So we'll see. I would like for her to branch out and work with people you wouldn't expect too. Yea, when she works with other producers on her ballads it's a train wreak. Never Letchu Go? Greatest X? With U? They're ALWAYS making the same mistake of mixing her vocals in badly which only highlights the meekness in her voice in a very unpleasant way. Jimmy & Terry has a way of mixing her vocals in to where it highlights her amazing harmonies and when they want her to convey the raw meek vocals they mix it in well like in Better Days and Truth.

Yes, her vocals non-JJ&TL ballads are always poorly mixed. It's quite amusing, actually. Jam & Lewis used to use samples to enhance the song - as in If or You Want This. But when the sample is the song, I draw the line.

I knew Jermaine and Ne-Yo were not talented enough to come up with something as good as Rock With U without a template. Do you think this group is getting their royalty cheques? There was no sample credited.

reply #93 page 4 boo Cinnie said: You will see on the credits for "Rock Wit U" that Eric Stamile is credited. He did this 2007 remix:
The Janet song is still great but my point was I am not about to cite Dupri for suddenly being a great house producer
