What do you hope for this decade?

Musically speaking. What do you think will happen in regards to what kind of music will be in the charts, what kind of fashion, the music industry etc.

I'm hoping for a much more rock oriented decade. Last decade was all about auto-tuned naked barbie doll slags & auto-tuned rappers that all look exactly the same. YAWN! I am sick to death of it. I think most people are by now. The Saturdays, anyone? Give a shit? Didn't think so!

I hope real bands making proper music will make a comeback. Distorted guitar pop songs like Blink182 & Sum41 but more modern. Lady Gaga's simple synth sound will be a big trend I think. I'm hoping for an updated funk sound, but I doubt that will happen. Although I think André 3000 could make funk popular again. I'd love for brass to make a big comeback, I love me some horns!

I also think albums will make a big comeback. Right now everything is very single orientated. I love an album with a theme, a concept. Depends on what happends with the music industry though. I think there'll be lots of changes in the music industry, they're very much backed up against a wall right now & losing a LOT of money due to illegal downloads. Can't wait to see what happens in regards to this.

I hope Pirate Bay & other torrent sites get removed, or at least be forced to pay a monthly fee to record labels which will be distrubuted evenly among all their signed artists. I also think artists will get a much larger say in what goes on, for the first time labels are vulnerable & artists could very well get better conditions on their contracts. Labels can't afford to pass up any talent that comes their way, & for the first time artists will have the upper hand, allowing them to make negotiations that a very much in their favour, depending on their level of musicianship.

In regards to fashion, I think everything will be very futuristic. 80s fashion seems to be making quite a comeback & I think it will be very similar but more... sci-fi. I also have a feeling there will be lots of metal going on. Like Beyoncé's metal glove, very robotic. Shoulder pads, tailored suits, poppy colours, very architectural designs & shapes.

What about you?

I would love to see some real music. I don't care if it's from long ago artists making a comeback or new artists. Just as long as it's real. No more lip-syncing, no more stupid dance moves, no more gimmicks and machines, just real f*cking music from people with real talent. Real musicians. People who can actually sing and write a song instead of getting a songwriting credits when in fact they had nothing to do with writing the song.

Give me more music from people like:

Jakob Dylan
Prince
George Michael
The Rolling Stones
Carlos Santana

You get my drift.....

We've had about a decade of stagnation in just about every genre, from teen pop to r&b and hip-hop to rock....

I'd like something to spark a change in these categories on par with the way the paradigm shifted in the early 90's when alternative and gangsta rap took over and pop started becoming more heavily influenced by r&b.

not that I want a repeat of those same directions, mind you. but something's got to change.

our way of obtaining music itself has already changed. perhaps the internet will finally follow through on that promise of exposure for new and interesting acts. maybe that should be the big hope?

hell, i don't know. and honestly, at this point, i can't even say that i give that much of a shit any more.

i'm all for that. except the adam lambert part. he strikes me more as trying to bring back the '67-era Newley-worshipping Bowie but hiding it with some '74 make-up confused

can't watch it at work, but it looked like a down-and-out-period Janet Jackson video from the little bit I saw of it awhile back.
