We Too Are One is from 1989, though.

I'm also counting the Guns 'n Roses Use Your Illusion albums as separate entries. Should they be tied? What an amazing list.

ahhh yes you are correct, Sept. 89. Sorry Dave & Annie! (Although they will feature prominently in the 80s list, so I think they'll be alright.) I edited the list - I picked the next in line on my spreadsheet and moved everything up.

Sure, you can consider the GNR albums tied. I've always viewed them as disc 1 and disc 2 of a double album, even though they were released individually.

Thanks for doing this! It was fun to put together. The singles will be much much harder, heh...

i think it's mostly because at some point in the last decade, i stopped absorbing music and started devouring it. i still get obsessed, but the timeline for each obsession is more accelerated and shortened. instead of living with an artist or an album for 3 or 4 months, it's about 2 weeks now. if that.

Ah yes, most albums I bought in the 80s I know backwards and forwards because there were less of them and I listened to them more often. But with increased income in the later half of the 90s came more album purchases and less time spent with each record. sad

same here. This decade has been a music onslaught.

in the 80s, i would have way way way fewer options, and the albums would get played over and over again.

1 emergency on planet earth : jamiroquai, my favorite album by theirs. i first had a funk odyssy and dynamite , but this is so much better. with brass and percussion etc. funky and soulfull. by far my favorite album of that decade

2dangerous : michael jackson , his first album without quincy jones and a lengthy one at that. after this his albums get more uneven. but to me it has somewhat forgotten classics such will you be there and who is it. remember the time give in to me and in the closset

3nevermind : nirvana , just a great rock/ grunge album
4blood sugar sex magic , red hot chilli peppers.

5HIStory : michael jackson great great songs such as stranger in moscow earthsong little susie. but its not as coherent as previous records it feels uneven and out of balance. first album i ever got !
6 nirvana unplugged : just a great live set.
7 miles davis live in montreaux : miles plays his classic tunes from his early years live, its not as good as he played them 40 years ago but still great.
8 supernatural : santana i just loved the 2 singles maria maria and smooth

9californiacation : red hot chilli peppers

10 doo bop : miles davis , miles experiments with hip hop and finished 6 tunes before its death, its not as good as on the corner but i like the mellodies
11 return of the spacecowboy: awesome titel track
12 the chronic : dr dre , oh ok i admit this is my guilty pleasure , its not original , the rapping is wack but i like the synths and bass and nothing but a g thang revives an old classic and brings it to the 90s

lol

these are the albums ive got from the 90s , a song lisst wil come later
