I think I had a couple Pavement albums on my list...I'm actually surprised to see them rating so high... If you're a fan of college rock, I think you'll like them. I would recommend jumping in with Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain.

I think their best though is 1988's The Nephilim.

[Edited 3/16/10 15:41pm] . not really a surprise considering this is prince.org....knew it would make the top 3....what i have always been amazed that the music critics never rated it ?....doesnt make any lists of 'best of' i have ever seen which is a mystery to me as its clearly his best of the decade and better than some of his 80s albums which did get great reviews.... [Edited 3/16/10 15:41pm] If a lame-o album like Planet Earth can make the top 30 of the 2000s poll then a decent record like The Gold Experience will most definitely be top three if not #1 for the 90s.

ohohoh, that era had to be experienced live. It was the last time (except 21 Nights) that I travelled abroad to see the little man. The concerts, the aftershows, the anger, the funkiness of it all; 1995 was a GOOD year. Too bad he chopped up the album and reworked some of the material. Too bad "We March" ever saw the light of day. >>

We got Kravitz a few years later also, at both the show and the aftershow. He pissed Prince off, in a good way, though. He and Mike Scott had SUCH a good guitar jam going at a certain point at the aftershow, you could SEE Prince was jealous. He was behind his keyboards, but he was ogling Kravitz and Scott uncomfortably; he wanted IN. >>
