Ya'll Remember the group City High?

Robbie Pardlo was on A&E's Intervention tonight (it's on right now). They talked about his offer for four solo deals, and he signed with Wyclef Jean's label. They talked about City High's burgeoning success, and how Robbie's drinking started to break the group apart. Also, City High member Claudette Ortiz (who I think was dating Robbie) started a relationship with the other City High member, Ryan Toby. In two years, from the release of their album in May 2001, in 2003 it all ended.

This boy is FUCKED UP. The show said he drinks up to a quart of hard liquor, a six pack of malt liquor, and a sic pack of beer EVERY DAY. SERIOUSLY?!

One of the guys in this group, was in the Sister Act II movie. He was the one that sang, "Oh Happy Day".

"5'5 Wit Brown Eyes

music

I love "Caramel". It's really the only song I like from "City High" as well. Never cared for "What Would You Do" or any of their other songs. When they first came on the scene though, I thought they were the "new" Fugees. Everyone was talking like they would be, but they didn't last too long. Well neither did The Fugees, but they had a bigger impact and better songs.

It's a proven fact that groups with females don't work 90 percent of the time. Guy groups tend to work out better for some reason. I don't know why. I guess it is the Mars/Venus debate.

Both. Groups like the Fugees, The Miracles, Friends of Distinction, The Soul Children, the Mamas and the Papas, etc. All of them are male/female groups. I don't know what it is, but these types of groups don't usually work out. If you look at the history of most male/female groups, there is always conflict. If its not a creative conflict, it's a relationship going on between 2 of the members and personal relationships with groups REALLY cause problems.

The same can be said of girl groups. They usually have conflict constantly. Either someone is complaining about not getting enough attention or a member of the group is being told they "don't need them".

I suppose so, but I wouldn't say male groups fair much better than female groups do. There's always conflict regardless of gender. Someone's ego will always get in the way, etc. Groups in general always have conflict.

The major difference is that men tend to have their conflict and keep it going. Look at groups like New Edition, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Commodores, Boyz II Men, Cameo, The Barkays, etc. have all pretty much stayed together. Sure, some members have come and gone, but there is always one or 2 people in the group that can be the "glue" to hold them together. The Temps are a great example. Sure, lots of them had solo careers, but Otis and Melvin were always the glue that kept them together.

I didn't say they don't have conflict. They just tend to move past the conflict and get back together and do what needs to be done.

And I am not talking a six pack, either. He would drink a half bottle of Henney,(the entire bottle in a few days) and have the nerve to hide the bottle from us, so he would not have to explain himself.
