Lol.....u say that like it was a part of Prince's plan. I assure u, it was NOT. Yep.. D could not sell-out his blackness..'cause he is "black/ysraelite"... He'd have to bleach himself to do that.. Not to defend Prince, but it is mostly the white suits in the industry who wanted light-skin entertainers, and anointed them... Ain't nothing you can do, if the white and "black" gate-keepers don't open the doors (or they don't open them wider for chocolate males and women in the industry). Believe it, or not.. The reason that there is a very Prince-sounding D'Angelo is because of Prince... Just like the reason that there is a Prince, are the promotion of a much darker Hendrix, James Brown, and Little Richard.. [Edited 2/4/10 21:29pm]

I don't think Prince was trying to sell out I just don't think he wanted to be pigeon hold and wanted to cross over to an eclectic and racially mixed audience like Sly Stone That 1000 deaths is funky and I like the open raw feel of it, freaky and playful like a Junie cut

Bullshit, you've been sucking on D'Angelo's dick for too long. This new track lacks balls.

i take it that some of you guys have the "yoda the monarch of neo soul" album?
it's a good disc, and from what i understand semi-official since it's sold on amazon. a few live tracks and a few studio tracks from here and there, it's a nice set of music. i especially like Devil's Pie live. it rocks the funk!

I used to see that unofficial Yoda album in the mainstream CD stores here when it was first released.

I get depressed with hese threads where we discuss D'Angelo with substance. I can't tell you how much I LOVE Voodoo. What a waste of pure talent. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740
