Icons Of A Decade

That Platters thread set me to thinkin.....

Who do you guys think "embodied" the feeling of a decade?

For me, it's the Platters in the 50's.....Elton John in the 70's.....

Whose work....when future generations listen....will allow them to "feel" what it was like to have lived thru those times?

What sayeth The Org? Who "owns" the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's & the oughts?

Man, there were so many icons in the 70s that it was tough to limit it to 5!

It IS hard.....to narrow it down. That's why I was being "singular minded" in asking the question. Intesested if there can be ONE that does it?

Great suggestions so far tho...
