Aaliyah... airbrushed?

Is it just me or is anyone else sick of seeing Aaliyah's face airbrushed all over everything?

It's at least slightly more artistic than seeing "Missy Was Here" everywhere you look.

I mean, it's such a lame and tacky artform in the first place, and it's been a year and a half.

And, it's not just Aaliyah. Gosh, how many decades have I had to endure black-velvet Elvis paintings? Sheeesh!

I can understand the annoyance, but I'm not because I really was touched by her. I'll never mind tributes to Aaliyah. biggrin I hope it doesn't tarnish your image of her.

I'll accept it from Missy since they were best friends. Anyone else, it seems kinda gimmicky.

I like seeing all 3 of them airbrushed.

But u know what? It is getting kind of old about Aaliyah, I guess it was because she was so mysterious and nobody could really get the whole of her.

But I would like 2 c Prince airbrushed on everything maself ok?

The tribute song was long overdue, and I think it's nice. But they've been spreading her out too much I think. They should just do one thing, and let her rest in peace and stop using her.

how can you come up with such a dumbass thread. these people were her friends and they're hurting. if you don't like it stop watching tv cause they loved her and they're not going to stop. she was a friend and loved one to these people. stop hating its enough of that crap in the world you could have went all day without saying that. were on the brink of war and you worried about airbrushed pictures. just imagine if you lived in iraq and you said outloud that you're tired of seeing all the pictures of sadaam husein all over the place they'd probably murder your ass. what what you say cause we're all gonna die and who's gonna airbrush your picture on their shirts? don't be talking bad about my aaliyah.

you guy's are saying some harsh shit about the dead that shit is errie. you better think about the carma and the aura you have about yourself. the airbrushed stuff isn't for us its for their friends to remember them. these girls deaths were sudden and unexpected and the only reason we know about their deaths is because they were famous. people grieve in different ways. so think before you judge and spread more evil with your toungues. im positive she was a friend to your boy prince how do you think he would react to what you said. no need to respond its something to think about. im sure you'd want your friends and family to remember you existed.

I don't mean any disrespect to the dearly departed, but who was Aaliyah anyway before she died?? She was barely even known until she passed away and the media just went nuts. I know some people did know her and liked her music, but seriously, this girl is more famous now that she ever would've been had she lived. It just hype filled with pity to keep her records selling and for her record company to keep profitting from her music. As I said, I am not dissing her in any way, but I believe she would've never made it so big had she lived. Her music is quite average and much like so many others.

no. and not many other people did either, looking at the box office numbers

well she died before she got to star in them, so those can hardly be considered toward her "enormous" fame.

and FYI, we aren't in Aaliyah's family. as far as I know, no one in Aaliyah's family said that about her. *I* did. now, if *I* had died, would I expect Aaliyah to say "who the hell was he anyway?" well, yes, i would, because she didn't know me. of course she's going to say that. who the hell was I anyway?

its not about anyone airbrushing your image, or you being in her family. if you are african american we are all family in fact we're all family cause we're apart of the human race. when i watch the news and i see reports on someone getting killed i don't criticize cause one day that could be my loved or even myself. as far as aaliyahs album they don't give out awards, and nominations for bad music. there has to be an overwhelming concensus for that. look at ashanti and she just got here. you know i shouldn't be defending her to you cause i don't have to. you just seem like an incensitive jerk who just whats some attention cause he's not getting any. i think in a nutshell you just wanted to fuck aaliyah and now you won't get the chance. take the stick out your ass and relax peace. trunks has to go get some from her man. have a nice life jerk face.

I'm sure alot of her fans would disagree with that harsh assessment.Aaliyah WAS very popular before her death.Since 1994,she has had many hits and her albums sold extremely well(one of her songs "Try Again" reached Number One on the pop charts). She co-starred in the film 'Romeo Must Die' and it must have been somewhat successful or they wouldn't have asked her to be in 'The Matrix' sequels, now would they?

We are all entitled to our opinions and IMO she was barely anybody until after her death. The fact that she was in a couple of movies doesn't mean a thing. There are hundreds if not thousands of actors that have made numerous movies and they are not house hold names. Just because we don't recognize their names does not mean we have been living in a cave and besides Romeo must die sucked and y'all know it. As I mentioned, I am not dissing her in any way, I am just commenting on her popularity since her death. I am not a cold hearted person and I realized that she is missed by many, but I believe the record company is pushing her music just to make more money off of her.

your dissing her by saying she was nobody. the fact that you thought the movies sucked and feel she was popular after her death. its wrong because she won awards and was nominated for awards for the soundtrack to romeo must die and doctor doolittle. it may seem small to you but it was something to her and her family. everybody is somebody. if i saw a report on your death i would feel bad cause your human and nobody deserves to be murdered, and she was not the only person who died. and we all know that since the dark ages people jump on the band wagon after someones death and we all know that people are overlooking prince and he said himself that people don't appreciate you until your dead. the only artist i know who was popular in life and in death is elvis. i've said things on how devoted people are to him and he's been dead more than half my life but i would never tell them to go fuck themselves as i saw earlier in the thread, i know you didn't say that. but to end this everybody is somebody and there are no small parts in acting. live and let live.

as far as the record company, the people running it are her blood relatives. she still has music in the vaults that was prerecorded, thats what people in the music business do they create music, thats their job they have to put out and its smart to have music on stand by cause you'll never know when the record company will ask for new music. if your a prince fan(m) you should know this stuff, cause he was creating and they were telling him to stop. when he passes he'll have probably more music to put out than tupac. its her mother and fathers wishes to keep he music alive. just like your family and friends will keep your memory alive if you God for bid you pass on. they'll have home videos and photos. and if you death was something unbelievable your story will be on the news for all to see. your family would want to know you were a kind and loving person, and would expound on your lifetime acommplishments. there's nothing wrong with that so with that im out.
