When I bought this album in 1986,this song was an instant favorite music The synthesizer melody is slightly reminiscent of "Little Red Corvette" and I love the beat.

Are they really saying "and in the morning,I'll just let you know, let you know....you've got a new walk"? lol

'Long Time Coming' is a superb album but I wasn't too crazy about some of the songs that were chosen as singles.I think it would have done better if they had chosen better singles. These are the singles that I would have chosen (in this order):

"Love You Down"
"Mary Goes 'Round"

(the first two singles are fine)

"Do You Get Enough"---this would have been a strong third single (as opposed to the title track, which is very mediocre)
"It's All A Game"---much better than the bland "Here I Am",which became a single.
"Baby (Let Me Love You)"---would have been a great fifth and final single.Add some cool remixes and I know it would have done well.

This song among others should come with a warning... "CAUTION!!!! Repititious listening may cause unexpected genitial moisture, intense lust, and your blouse, dress, pants. and panties to melt and/or fall to the floor." razz

I can't remember all the songs off the top of my head but after Love
You Down Baby(Let Me Love You) would have been my pick for the next
single. That was probably the hidden gem on the album. I was cool with
the title track being the third single. I liked that a lot. Mary Goes
Round i just really didn't feel that one a lot. It was weak imo.
I agree that Some People Don't Care was a good song but that
sounded more like a b side than a single. I'd have to go back and
check this album out.
Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

This is the tracklist:

SIDE ONE---
Love You Down
Baby (Let Me Love You)
Long Time Coming
So In Love
In My Room

SIDE TWO---
Mary Goes Round
Some People Don't Care
Here I Am
It's All A Game
Do You Get Enough

I was surprised that "Do You Get Enough" never became a single. In my area,it got alot of radio airplay on the R&B stations.A very catchy, popular track that would have done well as a single, imo.

I love "Mary Goes Round".That's one of the most Prince-like jams that they ever recorded lol Clever lyrics and a funky Minneapolis synth groove.

Oddly, two of the weakest tracks ("Here I Am" and the title track) became singles. Those two songs prevented the album from being a huge success, imo.
