I'm gonna check out George tomorrow night here in Denver. Am i going to walk away disaapointed like the last concert (De La Soul...was disappointing)? or am I going to say "damn that was jammin"...George funked it up!"

I saw him last year, and I was disappointed. boxed

GC came out well into the show- the band jammed without him- and the first thing he did was lit up and passed around the biggest joint I've ever seen thru the band and into the crowd. Then he mumbled thru a bunch of songs. After a while, I was ready to go! I had wanted to see him for years, and I was so annoyed. pout

But you know what? That was me. Go enjoy yourself and don't let us sway your opinions. You might have a great experience! wink

I saw him last year and it was awesome. George is hit or miss. I heard terrible things about his previous shows and ended up loving it. like mentioned before, George came out late in the show. I believe it's because he is ill. He looks ill and his feet were so swollen, his shoes were not tied up properly. So, I did not mind the band jamming without him and I did love his singing when he finally graced the stage. As ong as he is still with us, I'm going to go see him.

So him in Toronto years ago. He came out late and wore ski goggles. When he took them off, you could tell he was SUPER high. Actually, we ran into a girl before the show who said George was waiting for crack before he was goig to come on! I don't doubt it.

His shoes were old nasty and untied. he wore a 101 Dalmations bedsheet like a poncho. He was a mess. I lost track of him at some point.

If you've never seen him before in concert, and if you don't know what to expect, my guess is that you'll be walking away disappointed. I saw him in concert 2 months ago, and have tickets to see him again next month. Nothing I enjoy more than attending P-Funk concerts. But P-Funk AIN'T for airbody.

George typically hits the stage approximately 40 minutes after the band has been jamming. It's just protocol.

an old friend of mine met him after a show and said he was hitting the crack pipe in front of everyone and that he smelled of piss and sh*t. that's enough for me to stay clear of him.

What an unfortunate observation, though I'm excited about seeing him again in February.

Man, I had dislocated my shoulder 2 days before and still went. Never regretted it, it was really awesome. Funky as hell and cool to hear these classics and witness a legend. Yeah he was high, his voice was crap, but it was george clinton and p Funk ya know? Funky music, amazing musicianship and attitude to go round.

I had already seen Stevie wonder and Prince live, they were much more professional and all but I would put GC next to them without problem, a great experience.

Don't forget I'm European, lol, so this was extra cool lol

If you want to hear some "real " funk and see a true balls out show then go.

P-Funk is one of the greatest live acts of all times.

If you are into pop music and prefer it watered down then stay home cause you about bust a serious sweat. lol

I think at this point you just go to hear the band jam and catch a legend just hanging out and partying around with the crowd. you can't expect it to be like a p funk "76" show at this stage.

lol I hear ya.

I saw them in '05 and GC came on about 45mins into the show but them dudes was killin' it before he even showed up! Hell, Bernie freakin' Worrell? Never heard anything like it before or since and when GC finally came out, joint in hand, he really set it off! He even called my old ass up on stage. I danced with Sir Nose and ran from diaper guy, (Garry?). He was nekkid under that thing, eek I chatted with every member except George after the show then I stepped aside to let the groupies get their freak on. lol

Good times!

That's the thing! First, The P-Funk All-Stars get things goin' with some bomb-ass P-Funk grooves, slowly warming the whole house up, giving people a taste of what's about to come. Then, once airbody's all loosey-goosey, and there's a thick slow rolling fog of reefer smoke choking airbody's brain in the place, George comes pimp-walkin' out to center stage, by which time the audience is going bonkers, thoroughly ready for the roof to be torn off, lol.

On a good night, George & the crew are every bit of what they were in 70's. The main difference being, back in the day, you might have had a chance to see them perform at some big stadium like once every couple of years. Now, they hit-up those smaller venues, but you get to see them several times a year if you wish (and you can get a lot closer to the stage... if not ON the stage, lol). I've lost count of how many times I've seen them since I hit about 2 dozen shows by the late 80's, and have seen them at least once a year since then (sometimes twice), from New York to Los Angeles.

But as I reflect upon all this, I realize that George Clinton and P-Funk may be a generational phenomenon. Kids today may never "get" George Clinton the way some of us veteran Funkateers "get" him. Because those of us that were there from the beginning promised to "Funk, the WHOLE Funk, and nothing but... The Funk!".

LOL! The reefer was so thick I think I got a contact high. lol Them dudes throw down HARD! Maggot Brain alone went on for over half an hour...you will not see something like that anywhere else.

There were a whole bunch of younglings there half my age and by the time the show was over most of 'em were gone including my son. To this day I still rib him because he couldn't hang. He's like, 'okay ma, you win'. lol

These young'ins don't know how to hang! LOL. P-Funk concerts are a marathon, not a sprint... you have to pace yourself, let the groove wash over you, cause George likes to jam all night long if you let him, lol.

I enjoyed it. Obviously his age played impacted his performance but the band was definately tight! Wife didn't enjoy it as much, i think she was expecting a more polished show with Parliament/Funkadelic playing all their hits. The earlier reviews i read before the show were true. George showing up late, and leaving early. It's like the promoters used his name to sell the tix when really your paying to see the band jam which is definately worth the price of addmission. Was very cool to see a legend up so close though. Hey folks we are loosing them (legends) more and more (MJ, TP) so u better catch these legends before there all gone.

The reefer was definately in the air. The shout out's included "James Brown, Sly Stone and Jerry Garcia".

Was cool how the band mentioned the Haiti earthquake before the show started.

Can somebody help me out, there was a guitar solo right after Geroge left the stage, what was that? It was awesome!

Overall, i give the show an 8 outta 10! YES i would definately check him out if he comes again!

Uh, slipped through your radar, lol. He was THE guitar for Funkadelic (...along with Michael "Kid Funkadelic" Hampton). But on December 23, 1992, Eddie Hazel died from internal bleeding and liver failure.
