Pedophile or paedophile, it's ridiculous. And not just in discussing Elvis, but probably R. Kelly and Woody Allen too (about whom I know much less).

This is so characteristic of the easily panicked and distracted USA - this puritanical, hysterical place where some states jail 17 or 18 year olds for having sex with (or receiving naked photos from) their 15 and 16 year old mostly-girlfriends. Where politicians and churchers and hand-wringing helicopter parents have twisted adolescent sexuality so much that folks can no longer comprehend the difference between ACTUAL pedophilia and politically and culturally-driven age-of-consent laws (that have long varied from state to state and country to country).

As I've sadly had to say here before - pedophilia is a sexual preference and sexual urges for PRE-PUBESCENT children. There has never EVER been any evidence that Elvis had any sexual interest in pre-puberty children - NEVER. And I've not heard of such evidence regarding R. Kelly or Woody Allen either.

We might think it's highly inappropriate or gross or emotionally wrong for someone in their 20s or 30s or older to be dating or fooling around with a fully physically developed 14 or 15 or 16 year old, but it is MOST CERTAINLY NOT how to define the disorder of pedophilia.

Also complete nonsense - that Elvis didn't have relationships with "mature" - read, developed, adult, women. We are 40+ years beyond where that could be legitimately questioned.
