eric burdon WOW! One very cool artist. I'm just discovering his stuff.
I've never really come across him before. His voice reminds me of Mick Jaggers but Erics is stronger, more accurate and ballsy. His lyrics are pretty much to the point and don't seem at all self-concious, IMO better than Van Morisons (who, at worst, doesn't seem to mind rolling around in a bed full of cliches ) I'm suprised that I haven't come across Eric Burdon before. Does anyone know their way around his discography? I'd be happy to hear of any personal favourites. small circles, big wheels!

Eric Burdon was lead singer for The Animals, a "British Invasion" band.
House of the Rising Sun was their mega hit but We Gotta Get Outta this Place, Sky Pilot, Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood and It's My Life also were pretty big. Burdon later left the Animals to start his solo career and found a buncha funky, jazzy, brothas from LA to back him on his first big hit, Spill the Wine. The association was short lived but it nicely launched War onto the scene. Nothing more needs to be said about that. [Edited 1/9/10 9:33am] | |
