Keyshia Cole releases statement about her family and pregnancy http://sandrarose.com/201...statement/
We received this statement from Tresa Sanders, PR for Keyshia Cole. Keyshia wants you to know that her mom Frankie is sick and Keyshia is hurt and dismayed that people continue to exploit her mom’s sickness for their entertainment. A source close to Keyshia told us Keyshia is in a very positive place and she just doesn’t think that it’s appropriate for young people to see and read about that. Her intentions is to see growth and she wants kids to see something positive and something different. That’s why she removed herself from her reality TV show because there was no growth. Keyshia does not find this situation amusing. She clings to her relationship with God first and she’s concentrating on her unborn baby and her fiance Boobie. I don’t keep up with Twitter drama, but clearly, looking at the statement, Keyshia values her friendship with her close friend Monica and she was probably hurt when her family dragged Mo into their mess at Christmas. STATEMENT FROM KEYSHIA COLE To all my friends and fans – It’s time that I clear the air. It’s not a secret that I haven’t been in contact with my mother Frankie, and my sisters Neffe and Elite and I never wanted to air out our differences to the public. While I won’t go into detail here I find it necessary to let you guys know I decided to stop communication with them because I was at a point in my life where I needed serenity and peace to move forward. Please know I love my family very much but it was time to let it go. You guys are a witness to a lot of what was happening from watching on air and online. Now that I am becoming a mom my passion for having a loving and peaceful home for my child is my #1 priority. It’s very important to both Daniel and I. My plate is very full; I have a new baby coming, we are planning our wedding and I am working in the studio on a new album that I am close to completing. The stress that my family is giving me with their constant false reports is not healthy and it’s not what I need at this time in my life. Please understand that there are only a few people that can officially confirm or deny anything that’s happening in my life and that’s me, Daniel, and my publicist, Tresa Sanders. And my girl Monica never lies. Love Your Girl, KC "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Exactly. I saw some snip about her getting engaged, and I thought to myself, "Does anyone even know she's a person?"

I feel her. I'm going through something similar. A LOT of my family still hasn't come to terms with me being gay, for whatever their reason is. This year will be 7 years since I told them, and that's plenty of time to come to terms with something that really isn't that serious in the first place...and since they don't know how to talk to me like an adult, I refuse to talk to them, for the sake of peace and my sanity. I have enough to worry about right now without having to worry about what family members aren't gonna give me grief and which ones aren't, so...
But I hear what she's saying. It actually sounds pretty mature to me.

She's never had a #1 album or #1 single, except on the genre-specific R&B charts, not in the top 200, or top 100. Just sayin'. . [Edited 1/8/10 16:59pm]

Nah....My point was that she means something to a certain segment of folks...I'm not the biggest fan of the Keyshia Cole....But apparently there are people who have connected with the girl beyond whether or not someone of another culture or demographic knows or cares who she is... Ya dig? [Edited 1/8/10 17:01pm]

I like Keyshia and I wish her nothing but happiness. Sometimes you gotta let go of the negative forces in your life, and that includes family.

It makes it specific to a group of people who buy the music that effects that chart. ie: She has no real pop appeal/drive/desire/music.

And what I'm saying is, when she cashes her check from the R&B fans that purchased her records or paid to see her on tour, the only color she sees is green.. So it goes back to this question....Why wouldn't anyone know she exist? Would people think she exist if she sold 1.5 million copies of an album as a pop artist? I think you see where I'm getting at, right?

Nah...It's all good....lol...I just object to the blatant dismissive tone that some folks have when it comes to certain demographic of certain people (or fans) of certain artists... You wouldn't catch me saying "who in the hell knows Sugarland exist?"...Because there's a certain culture that does...And while I may not listen to a lot of modern country music, I respect that part of the game...

Do you see I don't care about her? She's irrelevant. Her money or her records don't make her anything more than another wannabe star with a good publicity team, and a few more $$$ in the bank.

I never really heard of her until I started looking at Bossip and YBF. Hell, VH1 Soul doesn't really play her shit. I think she has more of a narrow fan base. I can't really see her career blowing up. A lot of people think she has pipes, but I am not so sure. Her girl Monica is a better singer. She doesn't stand out from the pack in any way "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Yes indeed...I don't care about a lot of acts as well....But that's not what I got out of your initial posts...It seems like you were being dismissive of Keyshia Cole because of the fanbase that she caters to..... Again, would she be a somebody if she had a pop fanbase? That's the only question I was asking....

Again, would she be a somebody if she had a pop fanbase? That's the only question I was asking.... You're right, I am dismissive of her. Rihanna caters to the pop fanbase, and she's no more exciting or talented than Keysha Cole. Not to me. If you're part of her fanbase, then . I, however, am not. She's another singer, no pizzazz, no flash, no real talent, and like Mary J. Blige, all we hear about her is her trials and tribulations. It's sad she's going through stuff w/ her mom or whatever. It's tough when you face your parent's mortality, but why the "need" to clear the air? Keep it close to the chest, and ignore everyone else. She's overly self-important with the statement about clearing the air. All she's done is talk smack about how horrible her mother was growing up, etc, and now she's defending her? Yes, Keysha, you've solidified your place in heaven....move on.

But she didn't grow up with Frankie, right? Wasn't she adopted? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

I can only say that has a lot to do with the rhythm and BLUES tradition....It is what it is....

Her biological mother and sister are Frankie Lons and Neffeteria Pugh, respectively. Not sure who she grew up with. I didn't realize (shocking) that Frankie and Neff had their own spin-off reality show for one season after Key's 3 years. WTF?

But if we're gonna be literal, I don't think the music that gets labeled as "rhythm & blues" nowadays have anything to do it with rhythm or blues, not even remotely. Keyshia is guilty of "flatness" like the next so-called "R&B chic". Let the record show, I love R&B,,,,,but there's no such thing nowadays, sadly.

Neffe was kinda thrown around She and I are from the same area (Oakland CA). Many areas they showed on her show, I've been to "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them.
