Underrated Janet ballad

This soothing quiet storm ballad off the 20 Y.O. CD could have been her ballad single from that album. It's essentially about masturbation...

My favorite song from 20 Y.O. and favorite Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis ballad of the 00's.

Glass of wine
Candlelight
Music made for quiet times
I'm feelin' mellow
I need my
Sweetie pie
Here to lay me out tonight
I want it
I want it
But I can't get it

Take good care of me tonight

At home
I'm so alone
I'm wishin' you were here
Baby tonight
My bed is cold
I'm wishin' you were near
Cause I'm in a sexy mood
And only you can fill my needs
I'll lay here
And take care of it
'Til you come home to me

Always sound sensuous
Anytime we pillow talk
Using such few words
I get sensitive when you work
It feels so good when it hurts
Always want more and more
And I know you can't be here
That usually don't faze me
I need you tonight
Boy it's drivin' me crazy
Yearnin' inside
With this burnin' desire
I want it
I want it
But I just can't get it from you

Take good care of me tonight

At home
I'm so alone
I'm wishin' you were here
Baby tonight
My bed is cold
I'm wishin' you were near
Cause I'm in a sexy mood
And only you can fill my needs
I'll lay here
And take care of it
'Til you come home to me

Ah ah
Take care of me
Ah ah
Fufill my needs
Ah ah,
Take care of me

Take good care

Ah ah
Take care of me
Ah ah
Fufill my needs
Ah ah
Whatever you can be
Ah ah
I'll take good care of me

Take good care of me tonight

At home
I'm so alone
I'm wishin' you were here
Baby tonight
My bed is cold
I'm wishin' you were near
Cause I'm in a sexy mood
And only you can fill my needs
I'll lay here
And take care of it
'Til you come home to me

[Repeat]

Ah ah
Take care of me
Ah ah
Fufill my needs
Ah ah
Take care of me

Take good care

Ah ah
Take care of me
Ah ah
Fufill my needs
Ah ah
Whatever you can be
Ah ah
I'll take care of me

I love the vulnerability in her voice. IMO, Love 2 Love is one of her sweetest vocal moments.

This is another one of Janet's underrated ballads-

Amen. Someday is Tonight is classic Janet Quiet Storm. This is making me want to burn a CD with nothing but steamy Janet quiet storm jams. Let's see, there's Funny How Time Flies, Someday is Tonight, Warmth, Moist, Love Scene (Ooh Baby), Would You Mind, China Love, AnyTime, AnyPlace, The Body That Loves You, Rope Burn, Discipline, Take Care, Love 2 Love, Making Love in the Rain, 70's Love Groove, Twenty Foreplay...

He doesn't know I'm alive is very underrated. It's so 80's but I love it. Lonely is a gem as well. I have a question for the Janet fans - why do so many hate the 20 Y.O. and Damita Jo album? I think they're nice albums. Different from her other work so why all the hate? I can understand all the hate for Discipline because of the weak ballads and synthy up-tempos but not the other two.

You'll find the true fans saying that there was nothing wrong with those albums. After the events of 2004 (we all know what), critics automatically summed Janet up as a "sex sells" type of artist, when history says there is so much more to her music than sex. The casual listener went with what critics had to say, and stayed away from buying her music, but those two albums had some some of her best new-millenium songs ("Island Life," "All Nite (Don't Stop)," "I Want You," "Thinkin' 'Bout My Ex" from "Damita Jo" and "Enjoy," "Take Care," "Get it Out Me," "Daybreak" from 20 Y.O."). Both albums were criminally overlooked by MTV and radio, which is a shame. I think the only reason people say they "hate" those albums is either because Jermaine Dupri was involved with one of them ("20 Y.O."), and because of the S.Bowl incident.

Three great unreleased/b-side tracks from the "Damita Jo" sessions

Another good one left off "Discipline"

Always liked this slow-burner from "The Velvet Rope"

Her remake of Rod Stewart's "Tonight's The Night" (I think it's about a threesome. Listen to what she says in the opening...) When this album came out people thought she'd gone lesbian because she didn't switch the lyrics to suit a woman singing to a man ("'cause I love you girl...")

I love the mood and the bass in this song. Its element reminds the cozy feeling presented in Funny How Time Flies and the melodies of Lonely in a way.

I think it is indeed the best track on 20 YO. I played it one time at work and it turned in2 a favorite of the girls.

You definiley need some rain interludes thrown in after every track for good measure. That's where I used to love making cd's. make sure the rain crossfades into every track..throw some car passing by sounds every now and again with the downpour... nod

That's what I did with my Fuck 101, and Fuck 102 CDs. I actually slowly segued rain from the middle section of "That's The Way Love Goes" to the end. It was so gradual, you almost didn't notice it until the song ends, and there's rain happening. DAMN I love those CDs! I need to rerip them.

How would I go about crossfading the rain effects onto the tracks?
