How many straight men AND women like Madonna?!? In light of how gay men are always asked to explain their reasons, I would like to use this thread to ask all of the straight orgers if they still like OR used to like Madonna for her music.
THIS very straight black male still namechecks Like A Prayer, Where's The Party, & Spotlight as his primany favorite Madonna tracks.

Straight black woman here Don't care for her as a person,,,but I respect her big time as an artist, I love how she reinvented herself.
Ray Of Light and is one of my fave albums. She gave birth to magic with producer William Orbit. The album reminds me of something from White Noise.

I enjoyed the releases of Ray Of Light & Music back to back. Those are like the only time (counting Bedtime Stories) I ever listen to a Madonna album in its entirely without skipping tracks.

Little Star is the most beautiful thing she ever wrote in her whole career IMO.

I've bought only one CD in her entire career, and it's the "True Blue" one.

I guess I like her enough. I definitely like a good # of songs from her, I have 3 albums I think (the ballad album, GHV2 & Ray of Light), I still like Truth or Dare, but would never pay to see her live.
& I agree that "Little Star" is awesome

For years I wondered if I was the only straight person to like madonna, cause everyone online who did was gay, though I knew tons in toronto who love her, she is still HUGE here and it's not really uncommon to like her. But I've admitted in recent years that I've had been turned on by the same sex at different times in my life, even before I knew that stuff existed when I was under 5, so even though I'm bi, I still prefer the opposite sex and liking the same sex is like an old friend that visits time to time, but that I embrace now.

There are definitely a lot of straight men and women who like Madonna, but they tend not to go to forums. They tend to like her songs, but aren't as obsessed with her (or any artist) so they don't go to forums and talk about her like gay men tend to do. So if you are just judging from people you know online who are Madonna fans that's not really a fair sample of her fans.

I really liked her early stuff, first 2/3 years... I can't STAND her now!

I think the mass appeal of Madonna still extends to people who solely identify as straight, but mostly outside the U.S.
If you live in America and were into her in the 80s and 90s, yes, but I feel this decade has not only has she been relegated to mostly the gay community in the U.S. by the media; she has catered to her gay WHITE fan base, by and large, as a WHOLE. She's no dummy. I also think that mainstream 'straight' people are the ones who listen most to top 40 radio; with the exception of 'Music,' 'Dont Tell Me,' 'Die Another Day' and '4 Minutes,' she hasn't really been on top 40 radio in the US, this decade, with NEW material. I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

I still like Madonna quite a bit. I'm only missing about 2-3 albums and go to her concerts whenever I can (afford it). I love her reinvention, longevity and her interest in trying different musical styles. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

i'm hetero and i dig a handful of her songs . not about her nor do i own any of her music, but i understand her appeal . if i had to pick a "favorite", it'd prolly be dress you up cuz the beat sounds very prince-y to me [Edited 12/29/09 17:01pm] For all time I am with you, you are with me.

I do.
In the 1980s, next to Prince & MJ, I grew up with her music. I stopped listening after Ray of Light, which was her best album of the 1990s. So many memories associated with that one and to echo what was said earlier, her partnership with William Orbit produced magic. "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

Straight white woman here.
I LOVED her as a child. I think I fell out of love with her and her music when I was about 20 due to her being a spectacularly bad live performer. I still think her 80s and 90s music is brilliant pop music of the highest order though.

I love the album Erotica and I like some songs here and there, but I ain´t really crazy about her. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

I'm straight and like some her stuff. Bedtime Stories was a quality R&B album, but I'm a complete sucker for those 90s Babyface ballads with those awesome orchestral arrangements and classy production.

I do.
Aside from her casting couch stuff and her marketing which is 50% MJ and 50% Prince. (Meaning great business team matched with attention getting sexinesss.) When it's time for Madonna to do her job she does it. Her songs have great melodies and you can tell she loves pop music. And coming through the speakers that is the only thing that matters and is what the public will buy or not buy. The kewl thing is she isn't the best vocalist but she did take vocal lessons to get better and she takes what she has and tries to improve on it. "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page

I do! She was a huge part of my youth, and I've enjoyed almost all of her albums along the way. She's been in a big rut lately, but I believe she'll break out of it. Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

I liked Madonna PRE 89. All the stuff Jellybean Benitez produced I liked. The rest of her stuff not so much.
Her "Look at me I'm So sexuaL" period was just annoying and seemed liked she was just trying too hard. When you're sexy people see it, you don't have to shout it from the roof tops. Later she developed this weird British accent
