I guess I'm the only one who thinks India is NOT underrated. She toured with Sade. Her songs are okay but not incredible. I know dark-skinned sistas don't get a fair shake in the entertainment business but she gets no sympathy points from me. She got nominated for grammies. The industry knows who she is. She doesn't have any tracks that make me interested in her, so I can't call her underrated. I personally am not interested in folk music disguised as R&B. She's got to dig a lot deeper if she wants to get her Tracey Chapman on.

John Legend is underrated as a piano player. He's a good vocalist but he bores the hell out of me.

Ne-Yo is corny and is responsible for some of the crappiest saccharin songs in the market today. He's a liar lyrically and that in and of itself is a turn off to his work. He's an industry writer, not a genuine artist. He's a skillful lyricist but his lyrics are bullshit. Like Notorious B.I.G., he's very good at saying nothing important. He just writes what people want to hear and is not honest. Everything is "baby I'm sorry for having a penis" and "All women are independent and perfect and men should be thankful to be sharing the planet with them" - he writes for 16 year old girls and women who still have the mentality of a 16 year old girl. I don't like his work at all. Plus, he can't sing worth a sh*t.

Alicia Keys. 9 grammies on her first CD. Come on. Seriously? Nuff said. Another overrated industry darling who's looks outweigh everything else about her. Yeah, she can play. Yeah, she sings okay. Nine grammies = a lot of pretty points if you ask me. She has yet to do a record that makes me go "wow" and it doesn't seem that she has it in her to do so.
All of the named artists are talented but none are staggeringly good, innovative or IMO, interesting.

Ne-Yo: Has his moments. Never bought any of his cd's, but have enjoyed a few of his songs.

Alicia Keys: Still waiting for her to realize her potential and create that one classic, no filler masterpiece. Lost interest in her music after her second attempt. Vocals are great on that Jay-Z track though.

India Arie: Forgot she was alive

John Legend: "So High" is the only song that is memorable for me. Saw him in concert around Christmas and he reminds me of Lionel Richie after he left the Commodores. Sure he is popular, made a few coins, but he completely lost his soul
in the process- Rated ZZZZZ
