You gotta give it to Mr.B sexy

I have this 2 CD set which includes that song, Cottage For Sale, I Only Have Eyes For You, Jelly Jelly among other hits...

I still can't stop marveling at the fact that his band was one of the most pioneering band ever,,,the folks who played with him changed the face of music forever.

I remember you recommending this disc to me, but I still never picked it up.

I had the opportunity to see him perform in a very, very small jazz club in Hollywood before he passed away. It was as if we were all sitting around a piano in his living room as he told stories and sang many of his old favorites. Even Billie Holiday's piano player was sitting in on the keys. It was a night to remember, no doubt.

After reading this thread, and upon your review, I just obtained this CD and will give it a thorough listen tonight.

Been listening to this since I caught it off this thread. Very, very romantic music. This is definitely the music to chill by. Makes me feel like I'm in a 1940's black & white movie, lol.

I'm glad you enjoyed it nod

It took me awhile to listen to the rest of the album after A Cottage for Sale though,,,,OMG! his reading of that standard stopped me on my tracks, I was stuck on that song for MONTHS before I explored the rest of the album.

Again, the thing that knocked me out the most was the GREAT ensemble of musicians who played with him(Miles, Bird, Dizzy, Sarah, Dexter Gordon, Art Blakey, and Fats Navarro) all in that set. For somebody who surrounded himself with that caliber of greatness, you know he was NOBODY's joke.

You could tell where Quincy drew his "musicians ensemble" inspiration from.
