Yes! If you like funk, soul, jazz, vibes and great musicianship, you will dig him. Just buy some stuff. Start with a compilation - preferably two discs so that you get a good sampling of his sound. You should also check for Roy Ayers Ubiquity.
Here are some of my favorites, but I have too many to list. These are good introductions. [Edited 1/16/10 19:32pm] perfection is a fallacy of the imagination...

Great introduction, I now own about all of his albums. I even saw him in concert last year. Great musician, great show! Lady Cab Driver is one of the greatest songs ever!

You can't go wrong with this excellent 2-disc set

definetly pick up a 2disc best of, as his work is so vast that a single disc wont give you the best sample of his great work [Edited 1/20/10 9:50am] Life has a way of making you live it. . . .

My favorite Ayers song is DC City.
I made my own compilation a while back called Roy Ayers Presents...I put on my favorite cuts by him, plus some cuts by RAMP, Sylvia Striplin, and Eighties Ladies (the group Sylvia originated from). Great mellow collection... "Keep in mind that I'm an artist...and I'm sensitive about my shit."--E. Badu
