Eve Ready To Launch Comeback

January 2010

Eve is making changes in the new decade. The femcee has left her longtime label and promises a new album in 2010.

The rapper-turned-actress revealed on Twitter Friday (Jan. 15) that she has parted ways with Interscope Geffen A&M Records where she released her first three albums. “Let me tell u what happened with music so ya’ll don’t think I quit,” she told her followers. “Left Interscope, free agent now. Went back in re-doing music. Trust me.”

As for her oft-delayed fourth studio album, the first since 2002’s Eve-Olution, she says it’s coming this year. “Not letting this year pass wit out an ALBUM! Can’t take the non-sense MUSIK.”

A 2007 project Here I Am was scrapped, although it produced the Swizz Beatz-helmed “Tambourine” and “Give It to You” featuring Sean Paul.

While on hiatus, Eve shared that she was going in a new direction with her sound, as evidenced by the leaked Salaam Remi production “Me N My (Up in the Club).” “I’m actually experimenting with this movement called dubstep in the U.K., this underground sound,” she told Jimmy Fallon in October.

Her new album is titled Lip Lock and will feature “Tambourine” and “Give It to You” as bonus tracks.

Good for her biggrin

Well, she's not that big in Germany biggrin
But I liked that song she did with Gwen Stefani a few years back.

They are, but they have never been included on an album. That album got canceled.

I got this album on vinyl in 2003 for 2 dollars.
It's a double album on vinyl. I've listened to it
about 3 times. Not to say it isn't good. I just have
so much other interesting vinyl to listen to.

I kinda wonder if there was a whole albums worth to release around 2007 or if she only managed to get those singles recorded

First of all its a new DECADE can we retire this bullshit term of "comeback" god every fucking thing is a comeback. What exactly are you coming back to??? I dont care how good the tracks are, you are at best gonna sell 100,000, accept it, deal with it, that is what you are coming back to. The golden days of selling a million are fucking gone, and you had your moment of being in, the "click" that you ran with has seen its day too, so drop the comeback, cut a good record, go indie, and sell your 100,000 and be happy, fuck comebacks already, the term is overused as much as ARTIST is.

She finished an album for release around 06/07. She probably has about 2 or 3 albums worth of material. Interscope kept telling her to go back to the studio.

I was really shocked that "Tamborine" didn't do well. It did ok, but should have been all over pop radio.

For the love of God...would you prefer a variation of the term "revive" or "comeback"? Unintentionally amusing doesn't even begin to cover it. lol

Yep, there's no love for female rappers nowadays, I don't think Eve will have a smooth sailing's "return"(for those who feel strongly about the word comeback lol ).

She might wanna stick with acting, it seems like the "safe net" for ALL rappers,,,males or females.

Lil wayne is still "in" and he will carry that over with his out of jail release as a push.

Sales are not gonna happen so we will all call for her to get out of the business if it only sells 100,000. Now the times people, you might as well call 100,000 gold for this country, as long as whatever label is jamming tons of dough into the project and paying shitloads to wack producers that everyone is using, than 100,000 is a major success for her at this point in her genre.

Good for her. I like her flow. Just stop hangin out with the likes of Gwen Stephanie and making watered-down pop songs. Just spit it where it fits.

Hiphop needs more active female MCs and great ones right now. I hope Da Brat makes a comeback too.

Her 2001 (2000?) LP - can't recall title - the one with Who's That Girl, Let Me Blow Ya Mind, etc is actually fantastic. Never really listened to Scorpion - kind of just threw it out after buying it. Dunno why.....but, yeah, she overdid it on the Fashion Line, sitcom, etc. She has a case of the JLos...

Yeah,I'm afraid her time is up (as a rapper).I'd be really surprised if she had any more hit singles. She should try sitcom work.
