Kid Cudi

On Friday I had the pleasure of seeing him live along with Common. I was only a casual fan of his music at that point, but after the concert I was moved. He's one of the few rappers that actually have great live performances that rival studio recordings.

I think his album Man on the Moon: The End of the Day is excellent, being so different, thought-provoking, and relate-able, but I had been snoozing on his mixtape A Kid Named Cudi for the longest. I finally downloaded the whole thing and listened to it from start to finish and while it has some odd moments it's definitely a good listen.

Watching some of his interviews, he's quite down to earth and his opinions of the music industry/hip hop culture are exactly what we need to bring a more positive and creative segment of the genre back into light.

There's not much discussion around here about him, thoughts?
Kinda strange, kinda awesome.

I didn't like Man on the Moon: The End of the Day as much as I thought I would but I like him though.

He's worked with and is a friend of my brothers. He's a super nice dude and very swoon worthy, imo. One video of him making a stupid mistake is not going to make me suddenly not like him.

I ain't say you should stop liking him. But the story behind that video was the only thing I've heard or seen of his (except for a snippet of some weak song with Kanye and Common). That said, he didn't come off as "positive", which is what I was responding to. wink
