Shakira is the worst female singer around. She sings like Kermit the frog. Ok she is really fit, but why would you want to buy her music? She sang live on the X Factor and was truly awful. If she wasn't as good looking as she is then she wouldn't have had the same success.

She's a better singer in Spanish than in English.

She's been performing at recent award shows, etc, and she's just terrible. The "Hips Don't Lie" song is just trashy all around. Not sure how people think that's a good song. And this new song she has out, the whole setup, choreography, etc looks like a cross between a Beyonce video and something from Rhythm Nation 1814. COPY CAT in the worst way. She was on Friday Night w/ Jonathan Ross on BBCAmerica last night. She's so boring and vapid. "Oh, I live in the Bahamas, and go to the grocery store in my PJ's every day. Some days I don't even wear shoes." Well big whooptie fucking do!

She talked about how her first two albums tanked for the most part, and how she "became a producer" by the time her 3rd album came out. Yeah honey....take the hint...they didn't like you the first two times around, and not many more like you now.

How did Rhianna get one? Shakira was popular in her country and in Latin America to begin with before she came to America.

Her third album Pies Descalzos was her real breakthrough where her style became more sophisticated. Her fourth album Dónde Están Los Ladrones? was huge (yes, you can have a successful album that isn't well known in the states) and established her hardcore following. There's a big difference between those first two stages in her career so to say "not many more like you now" is really way off the mark.

I don't think her voice is any worse than a lot of other pop/dance female singers. I guess it doesn't always sound good live because she is dancing around a lot.
I haven't heard her new album but I read she worked with Timbaland. How come Madonna got so much criticism for that as being behind the times and no one said anything when Shakira did it?

Shakira got her deal the same way every other artist did. Labels don't care if you can sing or not, because a studio can fix the vocals. She simply looks good

Her Spanish stuff is sooo much better than her English releases..but honestly I'd be cool putting her on mute and look at her for 3:50 like the rest of them non-singing chicas..

ok i just read some of the other comments here..i gues .org considers Shakira the Colombian Britney/Rihanna

and the .org is dead wrong...you may find the tone of her voice annoying(most people around the world do not), but she can sing/write/produce her own material and is NO WAY a puppet like the other two.
