Nice article.
It's good to see something about this woman's talent and contribution to popular music history for a change.

It also shows how Bill Graham's creative booking (via his Fillmore venues), helped to expose R&B, Blues & Jazz artists to the Rock audience.

When she was at her peak - Sixties to 1976 or so, this woman was the shezitttt, period! Her delivery, approach, phrasing - were all flawless.
To see and hear her now, can only make you wanna grab an older cd and check out 'Retha the way it was and bask in that glory. The demon of smoking since she was 14 years of age till 1992, and lifetsyle choice (eating, weight, etc.) jave taken their toll on her instrument (voice), be she still sounds better on her worse day than her goddaughter Whitney Houston on her best day.
