The Stevie Wonder Set For Once In My Live Tracks of My Tears - w/Smokey Robinson The Way You Make Me Feel - w/John Legend (piano) - (Stevie breaks down mid song) The Thrill Is Gone - w/B.B. King Higher Ground Roxanne - w/Sting Higher Ground - w/Sting Superstition - w/Jeff Beck  x100
Stevie killed it and ending with Jeff Beck was perfect. The Paul Simon Set You Can Call Me Al Here Comes The Sun - w/David Crosby & Graham Nash The Wanderer - Dion Two People In The World - Little Anthony & The Imperials The Sound of Silence - w/Art Garfunkel The Boxer - w/Art Garfunkel Bridge Over Troubled Water - w/Art Garfunkel The Simon & Garfunkel reunion was extremely well done.  Btw, where are the great duos of today? (rhetorical question)
The Aretha Franklin Set Baby I Love You Don't Play That Song Chain Of Fools - w/Annie Lennox Based on the other sets, this one seemed rather abbreviated. Even though her voice isn't what it once was, like Ali, she knows how to adjust her technique with age. The Metallica Set For Whom The Bell Tolls Sweet Jane - w/Lou Reed Iron Man - w/Ozzy Osbourne Paranoid - w/Ozzy Osbourne All Day and All Of the Night - w/Ray Davies Enter Sandman Not a big Metallica fan but they sounded decent playing their own tunes and with Ozzy. The U2 Set Vertigo Magnificent Because The Night - w/Patti Smith & Bruce Springsteen I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For w/Bruce Springsteen Gimme Shelter - w/Mick Jagger, Fergie (?) & Will.I.Am (?) Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of - w/Mick Jagger Beautiful Day Fergie's inclusion ruined an otherwise very good set. The Jeff Beck Set People Get Ready - w/Sting (voice didn't fit the tune) Let Me Love You - w/Buddy Guy Foxey Lady - w/Billy Gibbons A Day In The Life Jeff Beck looking as spry & fly as ever at 60+ And of course, he played his ass off. The Bruce Springsteen Set Hold On I'm Comin' - w/Sam Moore Soul Man - w/Sam Moore The Ghost of Tom Joad - w/Tom Morello Fortunate Son - w/John Fogerty Pretty Woman - w/John Fogerty Jungleland A Fine, Fine Boy - w/Darlene Love New York State of Mind - w/Billy Joel Born To Run - w/Billy Joel Higher and Higher - w/everybody Very good set. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= A very well produced show. Why the hell were Turdy and the Hackneyed Peas at this business?
Since it was on HBO, I can't imagine why they wouldn't capitalize on this. It was just "Turdy" and Will.I.Am (who they kept behind some keyboards) and I have no idea why they were there. She sounded OK (nobody can mess with Merry Clayton's vocals on Gimme Shelter) at first but as the song progressed her voice regressed. 
Plus she went overboard trying to interact with Mick Jagger.

A while ago I posted the real set lists, LOL.
These were abbreviated and altered versions from wjat really ahppened those two nights. HBO and the Rock Hall should be shame for the way they edited this. Some of Jeff Beck's best stuff was left on the cutting room floor, i.e. his version of "'Cause We've Ended As Lovers" which featured an incredible bass guitar solo by Tal Wilkenfeld. There were over 10 hours of total music, and only 4 hours made it to the HBO show. 
One can only hope the entire thing comes out on DVD soon without editing and doctoring. Music Royalty in Motion | |

Since it was on HBO, I can't imagine why they wouldn't capitalize on this. It'll be in stores soon enough. Probably too soon for this season, but clearly the broadcast was abbreviated to drive up the value for the eventual release. test | |
