HBO RRHOF Concert - Complete Set Lists

The show was divided into "sets" where a featured performer either played with or hosted other performers.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

The Crosby, Stills & Nash Set:

Woodstock
Almost Cut My Hair
Love Has No Pride - w/Bonnie Raitt
The Pretender - w/Jackson Browne
Love The One You're With - w/James Taylor

David Crosby & Graham Nash still sing well together.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

The Stevie Wonder Set

For Once In My Live
Tracks of My Tears - w/Smokey Robinson
The Way You Make Me Feel - w/John Legend (piano) - (Stevie breaks down mid song)
The Thrill Is Gone - w/B.B. King

Higher Ground
Roxanne - w/Sting
Higher Ground - w/Sting

Superstition - w/Jeff Beck cooked x100

Stevie killed it and ending with Jeff Beck was perfect.

The Paul Simon Set

You Can Call Me Al
Here Comes The Sun - w/David Crosby & Graham Nash
The Wanderer - Dion
Two People In The World - Little Anthony & The Imperials
The Sound of Silence - w/Art Garfunkel
The Boxer - w/Art Garfunkel
Bridge Over Troubled Water - w/Art Garfunkel

The Simon & Garfunkel reunion was extremely well done.
hmmm Btw, where are the great duos of today? (rhetorical question)

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

The Aretha Franklin Set

Baby I Love You
Don't Play That Song
Chain Of Fools - w/Annie Lennox

Based on the other sets, this one seemed rather abbreviated.
Even though her voice isn't what it once was, like Ali, she knows how to adjust her technique with age.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

The Metallica Set

For Whom The Bell Tolls
Sweet Jane - w/Lou Reed
Iron Man - w/Ozzy Osbourne
Paranoid - w/Ozzy Osbourne
All Day and All Of the Night - w/Ray Davies
Enter Sandman

Not a big Metallica fan but they sounded decent playing their own tunes and with Ozzy.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

The U2 Set

Vertigo
Magnificent
Because The Night - w/Patti Smith & Bruce Springsteen
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For w/Bruce Springsteen
Gimme Shelter - w/Mick Jagger, Fergie (?) & Will.I.Am (?)
Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of - w/Mick Jagger
Beautiful Day

Fergie's inclusion ruined an otherwise very good set.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

The Jeff Beck Set

People Get Ready - w/Sting (voice didn't fit the tune)
Let Me Love You - w/Buddy Guy
Foxey Lady - w/Billy Gibbons
A Day In The Life

Jeff Beck looking as spry & fly as ever at 60+
And of course, he played his ass off.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

The Bruce Springsteen Set

Hold On I'm Comin' - w/Sam Moore
Soul Man - w/Sam Moore
The Ghost of Tom Joad - w/Tom Morello
Fortunate Son - w/John Fogerty
Pretty Woman - w/John Fogerty
Jungleland
A Fine, Fine Boy - w/Darlene Love
New York State of Mind - w/Billy Joel
Born To Run - w/Billy Joel
Higher and Higher - w/everybody

Very good set.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

A very well produced show.
All performances were professionally done.
Nothing beats experience.

The full set lists and some (less than great pix) can be seen here:

http://according2g.com/20...night-one/

http://according2g.com/20...night-two/

These two shows were beyond amazing!!!! Good seats were $2000 each and "bad" seats were $80 each (per night).

It was a very good show.

I started to post this there until I noticed that the discussion focused on the "Soul Train Awards".
This show needed its own thread.

Those sound excellent! I knew nothing about this show. Will it be making it to DVD/Blu-Ray? I'll have to scour the torrents for now. cool

Why the hell were Turdy and the Hackneyed Peas at this business? pissed

Since it was on HBO, I can't imagine why they wouldn't capitalize on this.

It was just "Turdy" and Will.I.Am (who they kept behind some keyboards) and I have no idea why they were there.
She sounded OK (nobody can mess with Merry Clayton's vocals on Gimme Shelter) at first but as the song progressed her voice regressed. lol

Plus she went overboard trying to interact with Mick Jagger. disbelief

A while ago I posted the real set lists, LOL.
These were abbreviated and altered versions from wjat really ahppened those two nights. HBO and the Rock Hall should be shame for the way they edited this.
Some of Jeff Beck's best stuff was left on the cutting room floor, i.e. his version of "'Cause We've Ended As Lovers" which featured an incredible bass guitar solo by Tal Wilkenfeld.
There were over 10 hours of total music, and only 4 hours made it to the HBO show. sad
One can only hope the entire thing comes out on DVD soon without editing and doctoring.

It'll be in stores soon enough. Probably too soon for this season, but clearly the broadcast was abbreviated to drive up the value for the eventual release.
