The whole performance seem like she was in a trance actually,,,notice how she steps to the microphone at the beginning, its weird. You have the sense that she might even not have seen the audience through out the whole thing. [Edited 11/12/09 17:29pm]

This summer I discovered "Young, Gifted and Black" and that album has changed my life. I love it.
This song is gorgeous. Does anyone else like the album?

The first time I heard her sing Someday We'll All Be Free I wailed. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Jesus. I just watched that again and there are parts where you can tell her eyes are just rolling back in her head How philisophic this gift of singing is, is just so hard for me to describe. It makes my soul sing and I ache that I don't have this ability because inside I'm all they wah Khan but outside, I'm only me ReRe was FEE LIN IT [Edited 11/13/09 11:44am] 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

So.....after watching a performance like this, do u guys see why I can't stand the likes of Alicia Keys and those like her? Constantly singing out of key, pitch and tune?

I don't think you're going to find one argument against your thesis 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

This song is gorgeous. Does anyone else like the album? Hell yeah, thats my absloutle FAVE Aretha album ever! The whole album is superb as well as its outtakes,,,,between producer Arif Mardin, Donny Hathaway(who co-arranged and played all over the album), Cissy Houston's vocal arrangments and finally ReRe's confident(I think she was at her most confident in that album), you have a feast of ALOT of soul and earcandy.

Seriously, every time I hit play and the piano melody to this song begins, and this album begins, my entire mood is altered. This, followed by Daydreaming and beyond... She was just on fire. What are some of the outtakes from this album period? I want to try and track them down. [Edited 11/16/09 12:59pm]

You can find the outtakes in here, its a compilation of outtakes/alternate tracks from the first six years of her Atlantic records period(I Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You) - Let Me In Your Life). This is pretty essential if you're an Aretha fan. Oh, and the YG&B outtakes are.. My Cup Runneth Over Lean On Me I Need A Strong Man(The To-To Song) Heavenly Father

Singers like that just need to sit down and be quiet for a while. It's not even the pitch or key, it's the lack of soul. I'm sorry, but if a singer doesn't feel what they're singing; doesn't own the song, then I don't care how good their voice is, they just need to shut the fuck up. Re's voice.
