has anyone on the org read this wonderful book about david bowie's berlin era by thomas jerome seabrook?

for david bowie fans, this book is a great insight into his life during that period, the berlin trio of albums - low, heroes and lodger - as well as the work he did for iggy pop.

i'd like to share with you a passage about an incident which occured in 1975 when bowie was in america promoting 'young americans'.

don't think this would ever happen again in a modern context.

"...Five days later, he(Bowie) was interviewed via satellite by the British talk-show host Russell Harty. The interview is perhaps most notable for the backstage shenanigans that preceded it. At the time, satellite link-ups were by no means commonplace, and had to be booked in advance. Bowie was asked to relinquish his slot in order that the Spanish government be able to announce the death of Generalissimo Franco, but refused, apparently deeming himself, and his announcement that he would be touring Europe and America during the first half of 1976, to be of more importance."
