Next Tuesday it will be 18 years since the world lost one of rock's greatest frontmen, Freddie Mercury. I wonder if he knew when he recorded this song ("Who Wants To Live Forever") with Queen that he had the virus that would take his life 5 years later:

Thats your view, Freddy might be an impressive crowd-pleaser on stage, but in general the Beatles music (on their albums) was far more excellent, groundbreaking and innovative then that of Queen.

I agree with someone else who said Hot Space was criminally underrated. I couldn't agree more. Hot Space is one of my fave Queen albums. You should check that one out Jarvius. Btw, My b-day is in September also. 25th though which makes me a Libra.

Glad you buying all their albums. I think you should buy the actual CDs so you can have all the artwork lyrics liner notes. Or least Hot Space. I think the booklet folds out into a mini poster.

Queen was the first band that showed me that music was worldwide and not just a USA thing. This was one of the biggest bands ever and they have very little respect or popularity here. I think everything after their 70's output was underrated, there are some GEMS in that work, just to name a few.

And get the Video compilations on DVD. There is 2 volumes and if you have a surround sound system they sound amazing. All their DVDs are great. You can't go wrong.

I agree with you on most of those album cuts, especially The Prophet's Song. This is a song that is ideal to listen to LOUD, especially if you have a good stereo. It's one of Brian May's best songs in the Queen catalogue.
I though I'd post the videos for three of those songs you mentioned.
It's a pity though that all the Innuendo era videos are still unreleased on DVD.

Very true at this point in time, nothing should be unreleased, its not like they recorded in the 1930's. An interesting thing i remember hearing about the song "mother love" was that the members of Queen wrote things for him to sing in those final months, Freddie wanted to give them things to work with after his death. On that track Freddie does the first 2 verses and then Brian does the last, I have heard and it doesnt sound made up, that Freddie died before the final verse could be completed, or was at least too ill to have the strength to sing at that point.

Queen is too, I think. They're viewed as these gods of glam, but I think they're total glam-lite! Roxy Music, David Bowie, T. Rex, New York Dolls, Lou Reed, and more are all more worthy of such a title. I do like some of their singles and understand that they were widely popular, but a lot of their stuff sounds gimmicky these days.

No i have to disagree on that, i think limited Queen to a "label" is where things get lost. Glam, for maybe a year or two, Hard Rock, here and there, Disco, a bit, funk, a bit, ballad and opera, here and there. I would say art rock if there has to be a title, Freddie was an artist, a real artist, designed, drew things, painted, so i look at alot of their work as different works of art, especially the first decade.
