I have a question that maybe you can help me with.Back in 1977,I remember my mother buying the 'Saturday Night Fever' album. As you know,it contains several new and old Bee Gees songs, including "Jive Talking" (which originally appears on their 1975 album 'Main Course').But,the version of "Jive Talking" which appears on the 'SNF' soundtrack is a live version, taken from their 1977 Live album. You following me? Ok,a few years ago,I bought the re-mastered version of the 'SNF' soundtrack, and lo and behold,it contains the original STUDIO version of "Jive Talkin" (not the live version!).

Am I just imagining this,or did the original 'SNF' soundtrack (from the 70s) include the LIVE version of "Jive Talkin"? As a kid,I seriously recall that it was a Live version (during the breakdown, you can even hear Barry urging the audience to sing along..."Come on!" he yells). For years,I have pondered this question, wondering if I'm going crazy...lol...

I have an origional pressing of SNF on vinyl and the version of Jive Talkin' is the studio one. So, either you had a rarity or there's something wrong with you. wink

Does anyone else still have their original 1977 pressing of the 'Saturday Night Fever' soundtrack? Please,go play it and tell me if I'm just going crazy...lol...perhaps they made a mistake on my mother's copy, and added the Live version instead of the studio version?

Can you still get hold of your mum's copy. 'Cos if it is a rarity it could be worth a ton. Maybe you're just getting your wires crossed and confusing it with the live album.

But,I'm sure the album is all scratched up now, anyways.Btw,how does that Live album sound?

To be honest i can't remember, my vinyl copy took a walk a long time ago and i've not heard it since i was about 13 (some 15 years ago.) I've only seen it on CD once and by the time i got around to purchasing it someone had beat me to it. All i remember about it is that it included songs from Bee Gees 1st to Children Of The World.

I don't remember the exact story, so don't remember which one was on there first, but at some point they changed versions on the SNF album because of royalty issues. I guess when an album sells 40 million copies, every penny per copy counts.

Good list of songs, but where are all the Still Waters tracks? It was probably their best album in 20 years!

I thought I had Still Waters Run Deep on the list, and Alone is on there too. But I didn't have the CD handy to pick other ones from there. Personally, I think Size isn't Everything and This is Where I came In are both as good or better than Still Waters.

Cool. In my opinion every album from Main Course onwards is fine. Although some of High Civilization sucks, but it does contain some good cuts - High Civilization, Dimensions and Ghost Train being my faves.

Guess what? I'm not crazy afer all...lol...I found my mother's copy of the soundtrack, and yes,it IS the live version of "Jive Talkin".Since she bought this in 1977,I guess the first pressings of this album contained the live version.Later pressings exchanged it for the studio version.

Btw,where is Finess at? I'm sure he could have shed some light on this topic smile

your mother has a rare Gem indeed.favorite Bee Gees Albums for me were "Main Course&Children of the World".they are in the top 5 of All-Time World-Wide Sellers but more Important they are great Songwriters that have truly touched my Life&so many other People as well.the version on SNF sounds like a Studio Effect Crowd very Popular Manipualtion Move.it only makes sense for the Bee gees too have a Live version of "Jive talking" at the time.especially coming off the Success of Peter Frampton's "Frampton Comes Alive"&they all were in "SGT Peppers Lonely Heart's club band" Movie&Soundtrack.which I'll soon forget except for EWF's Great Cover of the Beatles "Got too get you into my life".

The live version is from The Bee Gees: Here at last... Live - which I believe predated slightly Frampton Comes Alive and was the first album I ever bought.

You really should RUSH out to get his Greatest Hits.It contains other gems like "I Just Want To Be Your Everything"(1977),"Everlasting Love"(1977) and "Desire"(1980),which I absolutely love.

I used to have a mirror with the Children Of The World album cover on it. Sadly it broke. Was a cool item.
