The Beatles are way underrated within the black community.
In terms of melodies, beats, harmonics, instrumentation and arrangements The Beatles piss right over Michael and Janet Jackson, the plastic funk of the early eighties (Cameo, Rick James), let alone the crappy presets of the likes of Lady Gaga and Beyonce.

when you place Janet Jacksons new single to a Beatles song like Eleanor Rigby its no contest at all (and thats an understatement allready)
Janet is plastic, non-musical, empty nonsense.

Janet is plastic, non-musical, empty nonsense. Who is talking about Janet here? I'll take Janet over The Beatles any day, but that's a topic for another thread. I don't think The Beatles are underrated in any community- they're widely viewed as at least one of the greats. Why I think they are overrated is that many people feel that they should be universally heralded as the greatest musical act of all time, no questions asked. The Isley Brothers immediately come to mind. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I've always been a fan and adored Freddie Mercury, but i'm just getting more into them lately. Queen is amazing. All I own is a greatest hits cd though, I need to expand my collection. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ
"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always ![]()

Oh, and on the subject of Queen, I like them a lot. Their versatility was amazing. This is probably my favorite:

I think it's only appropriate to revive this thread today, when it's 18 years since the death of Freddie Mercury.
Here's one of Freddie's earliest compositions with Queen, "Liar", which was released on their first album in 1973:

I guess that is subjective to one's opinion. I still say Cameo and Rick James would fuck up the Beatles yellow fish submarine. I would give the Beatles props as being great songwriters and putting out a few classic songs but let's be real some of their shit would bore the hell out of a newborn baby. On a creative level musically, instrumentally, production, versatility, EWF would blow the beatles out of the water. In fact EWF did it with one of the Beatles own songs. "These are the days of our lives" is one of the most poignant music videos/songs ever. Such a sad way to go, but what a beautiful way to end your career though!
Their albums are patchy though. As a huge 80's fan of anything in general, I really like their "a kind of magic" album. "Prices of the universe", "dont lose your head" and "Gimme the prize" are all first rate, particually "Gimme the prize" if you love "Highlander" like I do LOL. Though not strictly Queen, "Barcelona" was a brave and ambitious experiment that, at least for the single itself, worked! I do have the album, but have yet to listen to it. Only Freddie could pull off such a duet LOL.
